The tension in the room was evident as Simon Cowell abruptly ended a little girl’s poignant performance. Could the event be a devastating setback or the start of something extraordinary? What happened next astonished both judges and spectators.
The judges requested Souparnika Nair, who was just ten years old, to switch songs—a challenging task for any individual, let alone a child. Nonetheless, she tackled “Never Enough” from The Greatest Showman with tenacity and gave a magnificent, powerful performance. The judges were struck dumbfounded as they showered her with compliments and respect.

Souparnika Nair’s audition took place on Saturday night’s broadcast, taped before the virus struck the UK, and it proved to be quite dramatic. The Bury St. Edmunds native stepped onto the Palladium stage and introduced herself before performing Judy Garland’s ‘The Trolley Song,’ from Meet Me in St. Louis.
Her performance delighted judges Alesha Dixon and David Walliams but not Simon Cowell, who requested permission from the judges to halt the audition of a little girl, causing him to be booed by a big portion of the Britain’s Got Talent crowd.

“I loved you, but I didn’t love the song,” he said to Nair, requesting that she instead sing “Never Enough” from The Greatest Showman. “You absolutely nailed it,” Cowell, 60, complimented her, before David Walliams said, “That is a mountain of a song, and you conquered it.” Amanda Holden commented, “You have an old-fashioned voice that I admire. You struck every single note; nicely done.”

“I find it difficult to comprehend how a 10-year-old can perform so confidently,” she remarked.
It was a brave performance by the girl, which ended with Souparnika Nair receiving four yeses from the judges, even as her proud parents watched from the sidelines.
