A doctor made a brutal attempt to push his wife over a stunning Hawaii vacation spot

On March 24, Dr. Gerhardt Konig and his wife, Arielle, were climbing the Pali Lookout hike on Oahu. But what transpired next has shocked many people. Authorities

claim the 46-year-old husband attempted to shove his wife off the route and even hit her in the head with a rock. There was a manhunt that took more than six hours.

Following a stunning event on a renowned hiking path on the island of Oahu, authorities arrested a Maui doctor. Around 10:30 a.m., police were called to reports of a man assaulting a woman on the Pali Puka hiking trail. Two witnesses watched the incident and phoned 911.

Authorities say Gerhardt Konig attempted to hurt his wife at the Pali Lookout, resulting in a manhunt that lasted more than six hours before he was apprehended. The horrifying incident is believed to have started when Konig’s wife refused to take a picture with him, and reports say he also tried to injure her with two needles.

The woman received significant facial and head injuries and was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Dr. Gerhardt Konig has subsequently been charged with second-degree attempted murder, according to Honolulu police and the Associated Press. His bail is set at $5 million.

“Why did he do this?” “That is a mystery…”

Myles Breiner, Konig’s attorney, told the Island News, “Why did he do this? That is a mystery. He has no record here or anywhere else he has resided. Therefore, it’s unexpected that he would engage in this kind of behavior.

Maui Health acknowledged that Konig was employed by an outside organization and worked at several medical institutions on the Valley Isle, including Maui Memorial Medical Center, the island’s primary hospital. Konig has been suspended from his position at Maui Memorial Medical Center, where he works as an independent contractor, according to a Maui Health spokesperson.

The spokesman informed CNN of the charges against Gerhardt Konig, MD. Dr. Konig’s medical staff credentials at Maui Memorial Medical Center have been suspended pending an inquiry. Maui Health takes these concerns and its patients’ safety very seriously and will assist with authorities as needed.

Married in 2018.
According to the Daily Mail, the pair married in 2018 and just relocated from Pennsylvania to a $1.5 million property in Maui. While people close to them are taken aback, advocates for domestic abuse victims are not shocked.

“Both are significant members of our community. Not only him, but also her”. Sanoe Kaaihue, the Executive Director of Women Helping Women, noted that they are both highly intelligent and successful individuals. “Domestic violence (DV) is not discriminatory. I believe that people are consistently astonished when they learn that it is their instructors, neighbors, or attorneys. It can impact people from all walks of life.

“What you’re seeing now is an outward expression of the things that they’ve been experiencing within the household,” Kaaihue said.

KDKA-TV interviewed old neighbors and friends, who disclosed that Konig worked at UPMC before moving to Maui with his wife and two young children to pursue his dream career.

Ben Brown, a former neighbor of the Konigs in Mt. Lebanon, said that while he wasn’t particularly close to the family, they were pleasant, and he always considered them excellent neighbors. When he heard the news, he reacted in shock.

Dr. Konig had previously married Jessica Patella, a sex worker. They married when they were both 20 years old and remained together for more than 15 years, raising two children.
