Jessie Lipskin, a 30-year-old New York City resident, wanted to downsize and live a simpler life. People are increasingly choosing this option as they trade in their McMansions for a more sustainable way of life. Also, if you live in New York, you know how expensive space is, so make the most of what you have!
Jessie found a 1966 GMC Commuter Greyhound bus on eBay and converted it into her little home. She enlisted the support of friends and contractors to transform this ancient bus into the prettiest tiny cottage. She invested $125,000 to make the vision a reality. The ancient Greyhound bus is now for sale on eBay for about $50,000. Jessie picked this charming property since it looked great and matched her lifestyle requirements.

This incredible transformation takes three years to complete. “You won’t be able to tell the new bus from the old one when you see it.” It was rather simple to make the switch after learning more about Earthships, compact dwellings, and other environmentally friendly ways of life. When asked how she made the transition to a simpler existence with the little abode, Jessie said, “I kind of just went all in.”
As with any renovation endeavor, there were hiccups along the way. Jessie didn’t have a driver’s license when she acquired the bus, but her friends assisted her. “Two of my friends drove it back to upstate New York, where I stayed for a while to work on it and disassemble it.” “I relocated it from there to New Jersey because I knew people there who could assist me in working on it,” she said.

Even though this is a modest house, it is equipped with cutting-edge technology. It has a large sink, hardwood countertops, an oven, and a stovetop. It also features a complete washing machine and dryer, hot water that is immediately available, and a gas tank. A bathroom with a standing shower is located across from the kitchen. Jessie’s favorite room in the little home is the adorable bedroom.
