Actor Danny Trejo was involved in fight at Fourth of July parade

Danny Trejo got into a violent brawl with Fourth of July parade spectators.

On Thursday, July 4, the Machete star, 80, seemed to get into a brawl during a parade in the Los Angeles community of Sunland-Tujunga, according to TMZ and other social media footage.

Trejo exits his vehicle when a water balloon hits it while driving a vintage convertible in the procession. Before Trejo emerges to confront a group of people watching from the sidewalk, one can hear people standing near the actor’s vehicle chanting “No water!” to an out-of-sight throng.

In a brawl with the audience, the actor appeared to throw a punch, resulting in a temporary knockdown. As onlookers gathered to break up the altercation, he also tossed a neighboring lawn chair.

A Trejo spokesperson did not immediately reply to people’s requests for comment.

According to Los Angeles-based ABC7 Eyewitness News, the confrontation lasted around 10 minutes until police arrived and the situation calmed down. Prior to the fight, Trejo seemed to be stuck in his car and snapping photographs with paradegoers, according to ABC 7 CCTV.

One witness said water balloons are typical during the parade, but Trejo was unhappy “because usually people don’t throw water balloons at fancy cars when they come by.”

Trejo does not appear to have addressed the event on social media, although he did post about the holiday on Instagram, saying, “Have fun tonight, but remember to take care of your pets!” Happy Fourth of July!” The singer recently disclosed that his chihuahua, Dixie, died on July 1.

People interviewed Trejo on the eve of his 80th birthday in May. At the time, the actor reminisced on his turbulent beginnings in California and a series of jail stints before his acting career in the 1980s.

“Anytime someone asks me, did I ever imagine?” I never imagined getting out of prison,” he recalls at the time. “The last thing I heard from the parole board in 1969 was, ‘Bring us back a life sentence. We are sick and weary of you. I never went back. For me, every day is a blessing.
