Most newborns sleep during newborn picture sessions, but 7-day-old Trent Martin Mundy was fully awake and casting shade on May 10.
His mother, Jessica Mundy, 35, tells people, “I had a good laugh, and so did my husband.” “It’s adorable to see such a disgusted look on such a little face.”
Baby Trent slept the entire way from Hamilton, Ohio, to Lauren Carson’s Drawing in Light Photography Studio in Cincinnati. The photographer specializes in taking pictures of adorable, swaddled, sleeping newborns. Normally, she attempts to get babies to sleep during shots, but Trent was fully awake after his slumber in the vehicle.
Despite Trent’s awake condition and clear dislike for the camera, Carson swaddled him and decided to see what happened.
“He just started staring at me and giving me those looks,” explains Carson, 40. “As soon as I took the pictures, I knew they were going to be my favorites.”
According to the photographer, he appeared “consistently grumpy” during the 15-minute photo shoot.
“While we were taking his pictures, I was giggling the whole time because he was just giving me these looks,” Carson tells me. “It was hilarious.”
She says she enjoys seeing newborns’ characteristics peek through.
“Every baby is cute when they’re sleeping, and they look so sweet and peaceful, but when they’re awake and giving you expressions like baby Trent did, you could just see pieces of who they are already,” Carson says. “He’s simply so expressive… He was the cutest little thing. I know he appears grumpy, but he truly wasn’t.”
His mother is overjoyed that her son’s look has made so many people laugh since it went viral on social media.
“I saw one comment from somebody that said that they’ve put it as their wallpaper on their work computer so they could get a good laugh if they’re having a hard day at work,” the son’s mom claims. “It’ll be fun to see what he thinks about them when he gets older.”
