Adele stops her Munich concert to show the women’s 100m final in the 2024 Summer Olympics on screen

Even while performing, Adele keeps up with the 2024 Olympics!

The 36-year-old “Easy on Me” singer interrupted her Munich concert on Saturday, Aug. 3, to watch the women’s 100-meter final in Paris.

A social media video shows Adele pausing her performance to predict the gold winner and offer encouragement to her competitors.

In the video, the singer strolls toward the back of the stage, her gaze diverting from the crowd. The camera stopped projecting her movements onto the jumbotron and began broadcasting the track race.

In the film, the announcer at the Olympics revealed that Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia took first place with 10.72 seconds, followed by Sha’Carri Richardson of Team USA.

When Adele saw the winner, she addressed the audience, “Let’s give her a round of applause!” “Let’s start with the program,” she continued. Fantastic, St. Lucia.”

Another tape from the previous night’s event shows the 16-time Grammy winner discussing his Olympic viewing habits. “While watching world-class athletes, I’d think, ‘Oh, that landing was a little shaky, wasn’t it?'” Oh, her legs weren’t very straight. Meanwhile, if I did anything like they do, I’d die.”

She kept going: “I’d die if I tried to even do a little, any kind of movement at all.”

The singer went on to congratulate gymnast Simone Biles for her gold medal in gymnastics, stating, “She was brilliant.”

Adele will perform in Munich on various days until August 31 at the open-air venue Munich Messe, which seats 80,000 people. According to the residency website, this will be Adele’s first performance in “mainland Europe” since 2016.

“So a few months ago, I received a call regarding a summer run of events,” she wrote in a statement on the website. I hadn’t made any further plans since I was perfectly pleased with my gigs in London’s Hyde Park and my residency in Las Vegas. However, I was too intrigued to not pursue and revel in this concept—a one-of-a-kind, personalized pop-up stadium constructed around any event I wanted to put on. Ohh!? Almost exactly in the center of Europe? In Munich? That’s a little weird, but still fantastic!”

She proceeded to express her eagerness for the dates to coincide with the athletic event. “Right after the Euros?” Come on, England! With the Olympics next door? Go, Simone! Are some of my favorite acts also playing shows? Why…YES!! I have not played in Europe since 2016. I couldn’t think of a better way to end this fantastic chapter of my life and career than with concerts closer to home during such an exciting summer,” she added.

Adele spoke with German broadcaster ZDF earlier this month about her plans for new songs, stating that she is working on “other creative things.”

“I have no plans for new music at all,” Adele revealed. “I want a big break after this, and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.”
