After the driver passes out, a seventh-grader bravely stops the school bus from collapsing

A seventh-grade student is being hailed as a hero after he stopped a school bus when the driver passed out. The bus driver can be seen in the video fanning herself and dialing home base to report feeling dizzy. She began to slow down but did not come to a complete stop before collapsing.

Her hand slips from the steering wheel, causing the bus to swerve towards oncoming traffic. That’s when Dillon Reeves dashed to the front of the bus, seizing the steering wheel with his left hand and carefully applying the brakes with his right. As the children scream behind him, he manages to stop the bus. As soon as he gets off the bus, he turns around and calls 911.

The people of Macomb County, Michigan, have recognized his bravery. Dillon’s move, according to Warren Consolidated Schools Superintendent Robert D. Livernois, is “an incredible show of courage and maturity.”

“He had the foresight to push it carefully, most likely anticipating that the bus would be packed.” “So, despite the understandable panic on the bus, you could imagine it was a 66-passenger bus at the time,” Livernois said at a press conference.

Dillon’s mother subsequently told reporters that Dillon informed her that he knew what to do because he saw the bus driver every day. She also mentioned that her son is quite perceptive.

Dillon, you are an inspiration! It’s amazing to witness him take action and keep his cool at such a young age.
