Andrea Bocelli describes Johnny Depp as a ‘rockstar loved and applauded everywhere’ ahead of their concert together

Andrea Bocelli praises Johnny Depp ahead of their impending joint musical engagement.

Bocelli, 65, whose concert film Andrea Bocelli 30: The Celebration hits theaters this fall, announced on Instagram on July 3 that Depp, 61, will be a special guest for the next concert series.

“A disarmingly charming actor who has brought countless iconic characters to life on the big screen, this eclectic artist’s musical talents are equally intense: a bona fide rockstar loved and applauded everywhere,” the guitarist posted on Instagram.

“I fondly recall playing and singing with Johnny Depp when he visited my home in Tuscany,” she said. “We’re happy to announce that this unexpected pairing will perform once more—and this time in public, as his fans will be thrilled to hear.”

“We want to thank Johnny for accepting our invitation; it will be a joy to welcome him to the Teatro del Silenzio stage.”

Bocelli earlier announced plans to celebrate 30 years in the music profession with three concerts in his hometown of Lajatico, Italy, on July 15, 17, and 19.

Bocelli announced at the time that stars such as Ed Sheeran, Shania Twain, Jon Batiste, Russell Crowe, Sofia Vergara, David Foster, Christian Nodal, Sofia Carson, Laura Pausini, Tiziano Ferro, Zucchero, Giorgia, and his children Matteo and Virginia would attend, as well as classical musicians Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Lang Lang, Aida Garifullina, Bryn Terfel, and Nadine Sierra.

Sam Wrench, the director who filmed Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, will direct the concert film based on Bocelli’s three-night celebration, which will premiere as Bocelli embarks on a fall North American tour that begins in Monterrey, Mexico, on September 30 and ends on December 21 in Los Angeles.

“As a child, I learned to dream about my future in the enchanted silence of these hills,” Bocelli stated in an April news statement announcing the performance series. “Then life made that dream happen.”

“Today, 30 years later, I can only imagine celebrating my career and my life, its strength, and its wondrous beauty here at Teatro del Silenzio, surrounded by such wonderful artists and friends,” he told reporters. “I want to thank everyone who helped my childhood dreams come true with an unforgettable concert.”

In addition to his acting profession, Depp is a skilled guitarist and vocalist. In July 2022, many months before Beck’s death in January 2023, he collaborated with the late Jeff Beck on the album 18. He most recently played live at a special event in London commemorating Beck’s 80th birthday.
