Hopkins, 84, is still appearing in films and wowing admirers with his powerful dance. However, it is well known that he did not enjoy an easy old age; the actor fought with alcoholism for about half of his life.

As a consequence, on the night of the new year, he wrote a congratulations message on his own blog, emphasizing the importance of his ability to take responsibility for his life.

After all, he was rescued precisely when it looked like addiction was prevailing.

In a speech to his admirers, he claimed that he had been sober for 47 years! The actor also said that alcohol took hold of him at a critical juncture in his life.

‘I’m an alcoholic, and I know there are many of you who are now struggling with this addiction.

I want you to be nice to yourself and proud of yourself. I understand how you feel right now. I was utterly powerless 47 years ago until I confessed that I had a problem.

The actor said, ‘I understood that my serious physical and mental state is alcoholism.’
