As fans booed the new series of Charmed at the 90s Convention, Shannen Doherty defended the reboot by saying, “Not cool.”

Shannen Doherty is supporting the reimagining of the television show Charmed which she starred in before on The CW.

Doherty, who is now 51 years old, participated on a panel on Saturday at 90s Con in Hartford, Connecticut, with her former Charmed costars Rose McGowan, Holly Marie Combs, Brian Krause, Dorian Gregory, and Drew Fuller. The event was hosted by PEOPLE’s Breanne L. Heldman. During the segment of the event devoted to questions from fans, she gave her response to an audience who booed when someone mentioned the more recent series in their question to the actors.

Doherty started by saying, “That’s not cool.” “Don’t be rude to the ones who are responsible for keeping literally hundreds and hundreds of other people employed.”

Doherty went on to say that “the new Charm is also for a younger generation” as his next explanation.

She explained, ‘ve met a lot of people that have bonded just like all of you have bonded.” “It is possible for all of us to think something along the lines of “Oh, it would be lovely to be invited to be on the program,” but you know, when they established their own thing and did it, I congratulate them for doing it because they provided a lot of employment for other people. And just so you know, they are the nicest of people.”

In addition, Doherty said that the episode of Charmed in which she appeared would “always stand on its own.”

She continued by saying, “We are the originals.”

In addition, the cast of Beverly Hills, 90210 got together for a photo op at the second annual 90s Con. The cast of the popular adolescent drama from the 1990s, including Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Ian Ziering, Jason Priestley, and Rebecca Gayheart, joined the stage to discuss the show, but Shannen Doherty, who was also a cast member on the show 90210, only participated on the Charmed panel.

The television series Charmed ran from 1998 through 2006, however, Doherty departed the show after the first three seasons, and Rose McGowan took her place. In addition, Alyssa Milano had a role in the series.

In 2018, a new version of the show with the same name made its debut on The CW. Yet in spite of the fact that its premiere was met with ambivalence on the part of viewers and, originally, some of the show’s actors, it has been renewed for a total of four seasons. The last episode of which was shown in 2022.
