Josh Duhamel is ecstatic about his new baby, as is his son Axl.

In an interview released on Thursday, the Transformers star spoke to Parade about having another kid at the age of 50 with wife Audra Mari, as well as how his 10-year-old son is reacting to the news.

“He’s like, ‘Wait, am I going to be—but you’re still going to love me, right?'” Duhamel spoke of his curious son Axl, whom he has with his ex-wife Fergie.

“I was like, ‘Of course, I’m still going to love you.'” ‘I’m still going to be your firstborn son, right?’ he says. ‘Yeah, you’re still the firstborn son,’ I say. The actor from Shotgun Wedding added

“He’s a very nice kid, and he adores infants!” said the father. “I was the same way when he was his age. I’ve always had a thing for babies. There’s something special about them. And he’s fantastic with smaller children. So I think he’ll make an excellent, bigger brother.”

Duhamel spoke on Live with Kelly and Mark last week to discuss his second stint as a parent and how Axl feels about his growing family.

“You made some huge announcements the other day. Do you want to tell the rest of the audience?” Kelly Ripa questioned Duhamel after the Life as We Know It star made an announcement on social media.

“Well, my wife and I are expecting a baby,” he revealed.

“Does Axl already know?” Ripa, 52, spoke up.

“He is aware!” He’s ecstatic,” Duhamel said. “He’s overjoyed. I don’t think he realizes what he’s seeing is genuine. He will when he sees this small object in front of him. “I believe I’m the same.”

Ripa said 10 is “a great age” for him since he’s “prime big brother material.”

“Yeah, I think it’s going to be good for him because he’s been an only child up to this point,” Duhamel added. “And now he’ll have some responsibilities.” He’s ecstatic. He’ll also be an excellent elder brother. He’s a pretty kind child who adores infants, so I believe this is ideal.”

Duhamel stated that Axl “wants to name the baby Gary,” but neither he nor his wife agreed.

“I think if we have a dog, we’ll name it Gary,” the actor said. “But no, no, no.”

“Baby Duhamel is coming soon,” Duhamel and Mari revealed on September 11 in a joint Instagram picture of their first child together.

“I am overjoyed for you guys.” “Axl can’t wait to be a big brother,” Fergie said.

In September 2022, Duhamel and Mari will marry in Fargo, North Dakota.

He and the former pageant queen married on the rooftop of the Jasper Hotel in the neighborhood, then apparently dropped by Duffy’s, a local bar, for food and beverages afterward.

According to a source, the pair had “a great time” and the evening “was lovely.”

Their engagement was confirmed in January 2022, when Duhamel posted a snapshot of the two happy on the beach as the sun sank on Instagram.

“It’s on,” he captioned the adorable photo. “She discovered a message in a bottle washed up on the beach and said yes! @audramari.”
