Billy Joel is unquestionably a household name in the music business. After all, how could it not be after such an amazing multi-decade musical career?
Even though he is now in his 60s, his amazing skill is still recognized by followers all over the world, many of whom travel long distances to see him play live.
Naturally, the bulk of them desire to be as close to the stage as possible, but Joel has a stringent policy about front-row spectators. Why? He does, however, have a very good reason.

Billy Joel, like other outstanding artists, consistently attracts a huge audience to his concerts. Tickets to his shows are typically more costly, but Joel has one rule that no fan is permitted to break.
In an interview with Billboard, Joel explained his decision to prohibit the sale of front-row tickets in detail. It’s really very energizing.
“Front rows are never sold.” “We have those tickets at almost every concert,” he said. “For years, scalpers acquired the tickets and would sell the front row for exorbitant prices. Our tickets are inexpensive, with some being as little as $80 and the most expensive being about $150.”

The artist was allegedly enraged to find that scalpers were raising ticket prices beyond the reach of the majority of his fans, preventing them from attending his shows at a reasonable price.
Furthermore, con artists were taking advantage of honest people by posing as Joel.
As a consequence, Joel decided to take action. He felt that genuine fans were always seated in the ‘worst’, most cheap areas of the concert venues.
“We now hold those tickets, and when the audience comes in, I send my road crew out to the back of the room, and they get people from the worst seats and bring them in to the front rows.”
Fans warmly appreciate his method, and Billy Joel himself believes it has infused new life into his performances.
“They make the most noise, and they’re the most enthusiastic,” he said.
Billy Joel made a dangerous move, but it was best for everyone in the end, as he gave the fraudsters the cold shoulder.
