Billy Miller, a General Hospital and Young and the Restless actor’s cause of death is revealed

The cause of death for Billy Miller has been determined.

According to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s postmortem report, the Daytime Emmy Award winner was discovered dead in his bathtub «with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.»

According to the report, authorities discovered «a revolver chambered for.410 shotgun shells» in the actor’s right hand, as well as «multiple letters indicating suicidal intent» on the scene.

According to the autopsy, the actor from The Young and the Restless and General Hospital had alcohol and cocaine in his system at the time of his death. His blood alcohol level is listed at 0.08.

Miller’s management revealed to PEOPLE on September 17 that the soap opera star died two days earlier in Austin, Texas. He was 43.

Though no cause of death was given, Miller’s manager stated that he was «struggling with manic depression when he died.»

Following the revelation, Miller’s mother, Patricia, expressed her thanks for the support she has gotten since her son’s death, saying that Miller «surrendered his life» after «a long, valiant battle with bipolar depression.»

«I want to personally thank the many fans and personal friends for the overwhelming amount of love, prayers, and condolences sent to me and my family on the devastating death of my beautiful son, BJ—Billy Miller,» she wrote in a statement released by Soap Opera Digest. «For years, he fought a long, hard, valiant battle with bipolar depression.» He did everything he could to keep the sickness under control.»

«He loved his family, his friends, and his fans, but in the end, the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life,» she said. «The other reasons for death that are being stated are false. I wish they were, but they just are not.»

«We all loved him so much and are desperately trying to deal with our loss,» Patricia said. «I have nothing else to say.» Thank you for your love and support.»

Following his passing, The Young and the Restless paid homage to Miller, who played Billy Abbott on the show from 2008 to 2014, with a montage of his best moments.

The long-running daytime drama concluded with a black-and-white portrait of the late actor and the words «1979-2023.»

The official Young and the Restless account then posted the memorial on X (previously known as Twitter), stating with the moving video, «To end today’s episode, we paid tribute to a greatly missed member of the Y&R family. Billy Miller will live on in our hearts forever.»

Miller, who would have been 44 when he died, began his career on All My Children in 2007. His role as Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless earned him three Daytime Emmy Awards between 2010 and 2013, as well as Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2014. He stepped down from the position in 2014.

He subsequently played Jason Morgan on General Hospital for two years while the character’s former portrayer, Steve Burton, was unavailable. He left GH as Jason’s twin brother, Drew Cain.
