Bach, now 75, was at the zenith of her career when she appeared in 1977’s The Spy Who Loved Me as the love interest and possible enemy to the womanizing 007 agent, James Bond, portrayed by Roger Moore.
Bach described Bond as a “chauvinist pig who uses girls to shield him against bullets” in a 1983 People article.
Moore concurred, telling People in 1973, the year he appeared in his first Bond film, Live and Let Die, that “Bond, like myself, is a male chauvinist pig.” “I’ve spent my entire life trying to get women out of brassieres and pants.”
Bach had appearances in Italian films before The Spy Who Loved Me, including one alongside two Bond Girls—Claudine Auger from Thunderball (1965) and Barbara Bouchet from Casino Royale (1967)—in Black Belly of the Tarantula, a 1971 Italian murder mystery.

Bach’s prominent role as a Bond girl established her as an all-time favorite and opened the way for her acting career.
She had prominent parts in Mad Magazine Presents Up the Academy, a 1980 film directed by Robert Downey Sr., and Caveman, a 1981 slapstick comedy co-starring Dennis Quaid, Shelley Long, and Ringo Starr. She is now 82 after portraying Major Anya Amasova, the fictitious character of the KGB.
Starr portrays Neanderthal, who is in love with Lana, represented by Bach, but eventually deserts her and chooses another partner.
The script is in no way accurate to what really occurred.

They met at the Los Angeles airport on their way to the set of Caveman, which was shot in Mexico.
Bach, who appeared in a 1981 Playboy photo shoot, said, “A lot of garbage has been written about us, none of it interesting,” according to People. “The truth is, we didn’t get together until the end of Caveman. “We got along OK at work, but we each had our own set of pals. Then, all of a sudden, it occurred within a week—the final week of filming. We went from friendly love to being in love.”
The Beatles legend raved over his wife, whom he married more than four decades ago, in an interview with the Irish Examiner in 2021.
“I adore the lady. I’ve admired her since I first saw her at LAX in 1980. She was at the airport with a boyfriend, and I was at the airport checking in, and we were both headed to Mexico to work on the same film. That’s how it occurred,” Star said. “All I can say is that I’m grateful she’s in my life.”

Starr, a supernova star, is the drummer for The Beatles, the most influential band of all time. And Bach was in the crowd for a Beatles concert at New York’s Shea Stadium in 1965, when he performed as a member of the Fab Four with the late John Lennon, George Harrison, and Paul McCartney.
Bach confesses that, despite her presence, she was not a huge Beatles fan. She was there with her friend Joe Walsh and her sister Marjorie, who was so obsessed with the band that she dressed up in a Beatles wig.
“My sister Marjorie was crazy about the Beatles,” Bach told People in an interview in 1981. “I really liked [Bob] Dylan, Ray Charles, and the Rolling Stones.”
Marjorie later married Walsh, the Eagles’ guitarist, in 1975. Walsh was also a member of Ringo Starr & His All-Starr Band, a live rock supergroup, alongside his brother-in-law.
Bach and Starr married on April 27, 1981, only months after John Lennon was assassinated, with guests including McCartney and Harrison.

Since then, the two have been inseparable.
Just before their wedding, the couple was in a near-fatal vehicle accident in which the car they were driving swerved to miss a truck and rolled over twice before coming to a halt.
“We decided we wouldn’t spend any time apart,” Starr stated after the disaster. So far, the longest gap has been five days, which was much too lengthy. “I want to spend every moment with Barbara.”
They also went to treatment together in 1988 and have been clean ever since.

When the cute pair celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in 2021, Starr shared a picture from their wedding day with the comment, “It was 40 years ago today.” “Yes, yes, yes,” replied the love of my life.
Beyond their mixed family—Starr has three children with his late wife, Maureen Cox, and Bach has two with her ex-husband, Augusto Gregorini—the couple also manages a charity called The Lotus Foundation. The organization supports a variety of causes related to animals, drug misuse, homelessness, and cancer. Starr, who is also an artist, gives 100% of her proceeds to the foundation.
Without a doubt, if they could, they’d be together “eight days a week.”
“I love the man, and that’s all there is to it,” Bach stated.
“There’s no way out,” Starr says. I suppose I still love Barbara as much as I did when we first met, and I’m so grateful that she does and that we’re still together.”
We enjoy hearing stories about love! And the one shared by ex-Bond girl Barbara Bach and her rockstar husband Ringo Starr is very encouraging. We can’t wait to see what they accomplish with their charity work and lives in the future!
