Dorothy Lyman, better known as Naomi from “Mama’s Family,” is 76 years old and aging gracefully after two heartbreaks. Dorothy talked about her current life and the adjustments she went through once her acting career was “winding down”

Dorothy Lyman, better known as Naomi Oates Harper from “Mama’s Family,” was 76 years old in 2023 and seemed to be aging beautifully. In the 1983 episode, she portrayed a sensitive and passionate woman who had previously been married twice.

John Tillinger, her first husband, was born on June 28, 1938, in Tabriz, Iran. The former couple married on December 1, 1971, and had two children during their six-year marriage before separating on August 4, 1978.

John worked as a director and actor, and his credits include “Doctor Who,” “The Adams Chronicles,” and “Monsters.” On February 8, 1987, the actress married her second husband, Vincent Malle.

Vincent, born on August 7, 1944, in Châtillon-sur-Loire, Loiret, France, worked in the entertainment sector as a producer, as did her first husband. He worked on three films: 1973’s “La Grande Bouffe,” 1985’s “Alamo Bay,” and 1992’s “Damage.”

Lyman and her second husband had one child together before divorcing on August 12, 2001. Vincent died from an embolism on November 19, 2011, in Paris, France.

Following her divorce from her second husband in 2001, the actress, who was born on April 18, 1947, purchased a dairy farm in New York but continued to live in Los Angeles. At the same time, her career was “winding down,” since she wasn’t receiving as many parts as she used to because she was growing older.

When her youngest child, Jackson Malle, left for college two years later, the actress relocated from Los Angeles to Delaware County, New York, and became an egg farmer. With plenty of free time on her hands, the star began writing.

She created three plays about women who, at a particular age, confronted unexpected obstacles. Her work began before the COVID-19 epidemic, and she worked on it until she had six characters for one of the plays.

Her time on the farm, however, was not supposed to be permanent since the “Mama’s Family” actress made a discovery that prompted her to relocate. It had a lot to do with her dedication to family and not wanting to miss out on anything else.

Working on her plays gave Lyman the courage to address more serious difficulties in her life. She moved from New York to Connecticut to be closer to her children and grandchildren, so she moved from New York to one of her son’s modest farms.

When Sebastian Tillinger’s kid was born a few years before her relocation, she was too far away from them, and the same was true when her daughter, Emma Tillinger Koskoff, gave birth. The actress felt she was losing out on too much, and she didn’t like utilizing Facebook to remain informed.

One of her pieces was about a woman who grew up on a farm and wanted to leave after her husband died. The mother of three wrote the drama to make herself “feel better” about leaving the house she had built upstate.

Sebastian possessed a 36-acre Connecticut property with a guest house where his mother lived. Although it was a terrible experience, the sacrifice was worthwhile since Lyman got to see her grandchild on a daily basis, her adding, “So, writing this play really helped me come to terms with making a big change in my own life.”

Her play, “In the Bleak Midwinter,” was about her distant children and how she had delayed relocating from her dairy farm. The actress said that her children had requested that she relocate because she lived three hours away from them.

Lyman’s children never came to visit, and she was always going to them. The actress said she moved her horses and chickens to her son’s property, but composing the play helped her cope with loss while she was selling her farm in 2017.

The mother of three had lived on her farm for 17 years, where she had established a stable life and good connections. The play was composed to help her cope with her loss, but in the end, she survived the transfer but did not prosper.

Lyman showed her Instagram fans in October 2021 how she was prospering in her new surroundings when she wasn’t composing plays. She posted a photo of herself riding her Icelandic mare in the Steeprock Nature Preserve in Washington, Connecticut, in the fall.

As shown in her April 2022 Instagram photo, she seems to love horseback riding. She disclosed in the article that she celebrated her 75th birthday by riding her mare, and in September, she loved strolling her horse in a river at the nature preserve.

She paid tribute to her late second husband by visiting the Chateau de Cheverny in France in July 2022. When the actress visited Cairo, Egypt, in February 2023, she found time to view a sphinx and flaunted her long gray hair, proving that she was aging gracefully.

The granddaughter had the same long hair as her adoring grandma; they could have been twins! Lyman was photographed with two of her grandkids, each of whom has long hair like the actress, for the Easter holidays in 2022.

By tweeting a photo of their muddy boots in April 2021, the actress disclosed that she also has a grandchild. The duo looked to have spent the day having fun on Sebastian’s farm, and the room in which the photo was shot may have been part of the star’s guest house.
