Bradley Cooper, who split with his ex, opened up about parenting and raising his daughter without nanny

If you keep up with celebrity news, you are aware that the “American Sniper” star rarely discusses his daughter Lea, 6, or his parenting philosophy. He enjoys raising his sole child in privacy.

But after witnessing his father passed away in his arms, he had some life-changing insights that inspired him to talk about his bond with his young child. Bradley Cooper talked openly about how the passing of his father influenced his life and that of his children.

In a clip from an episode of “Running Wild With Bear Grylls: The Challenge,” Cooper admits that he misses his late father before revealing that he had a “nihilistic attitude” for some time following his father’s passing.

But the actor eventually understood that he had to embrace both himself and his predicament, which made things better. In the same video, Bear Grylls questioned Cooper about how Cooper’s connection with his father influenced the actor’s parenting philosophy. Cooper answered:

You know how they say you learn from your predecessor’s errors, and I’m sure I’ll make many that Lea will hopefully take note of as I’m being strict with myself to improve.

Cooper and Irina Shayk started dating in 2015, but they kept things discreet by making few public appearances together. They welcomed their daughter Lea in March 2017 while preserving their secrecy.

The couple was “extremely thrilled” and “blessed” to receive their child, according to a source who spoke with E! News. Cooper and Shayk wanted to lead quiet lives and seldom discussed their romance in public.

They split up in private, and word of their split broke in 2019. They chose to co-parent their daughter after their divorce, which required them to remain in contact. Cooper and Shayk, who live a few streets apart, collaborate to raise their daughter.

Speaking about her ex in an interview, Shayk said, “He’s a full-on, hands-on dad—no nanny.” She said they were “very strict” parents and raised Lea to always say “thank you” and “please” when appropriate.

Lea must spend time with one parent when the other is away since her parents have separated and are no longer together. Cooper took Shayk on a two-week trip, during which the father-daughter pair got to spend a lot of time together, according to Shayk. The Russian model said, “I didn’t call them once.”

Cooper underwent a metamorphosis as a result of his first fatherhood. He said that having “a wonderful human being” as a child had completely altered his life. He gained a fresh viewpoint as a result of it.

The “American Hustle” actor said in a pre-divorce interview that he had “always dreamed of” having a family and being a parent and that such experiences had “opened” him up and taught him to live in the moment.

Cooper has enjoyed a great acting career and has had the chance to interact with a wide variety of individuals. He discovered through interaction with them how one’s background affects their personality.

He claimed that he could “see it in them” whether or not they had a happy upbringing, which helped him appreciate the value of effective parenting. He remarked, “I just always want her to feel loved,” in an effort to better parent his little child.

Cooper equated the excitement he had after becoming a father to the sensation of having a “breakthrough with the script.” He admitted that being around his daughter gives him that emotion frequently each day.

2019 saw Cooper make a visit to “The Ellen Show,” where he spoke candidly about how becoming a father affected him. He responded to Ellen DeGeneres’ question on how having a parent affected his life by saying:

It enabled me to accept my innocent self without worrying about criticism.

Cooper stated that he doesn’t feel like he is wasting his time when he plays with toys and watches cartoons with his child. He enjoys Lea’s company, something he had never done before becoming a parent.
