Although you shouldn’t believe everything you read on the internet, it turns out that the David Tennant rumors on Reddit were correct.
Indeed, the suspicions of social media fans about what the 53-year-old Doctor Who star was concealing in his shoe were accurate.
Some people have been meticulously examining every photograph they can find of a barefoot Tennant, hoping to uncover the truth behind the rumors surrounding his toes.
Interestingly, web sleuths have plenty of information to sift through, as the actor seems to enjoy wearing no shoes in both his roles and in real life.
The good news is that Tennant has finally ended the discussion about his “extra toe.”
In a recent interview, the Harry Potter star acknowledged that he did indeed have eleven toes.

Tennant disclosed that he had polydactyly, an uncommon disorder characterized by the presence of one or more additional digits at birth.
Despite only affecting approximately one in every 500 to 1,000 births, it is considered one of the most common congenital disorders.
Often, doctors remove extra fingers at birth because they are too small or unusual.
We don’t know if Tennant’s parents passed on polydactyly to him, but the 53-year-old does have a little ‘nubbin’ on his right foot.
While chatting with Metro, the actor was questioned if the allegations regarding his additional toe were genuine, to which the reporter responded, “Do people know that?”

Tennant then reacted amusingly: “Well, they do now,” before adding, “It’s sort of like a nubbin.”
Reddit users were ecstatic when they discovered that their suspicions regarding the Broadchurch star were correct.
A single individual commented, “I’m delighted by this, and I have no idea why.”
Another remarked, “I’m looking forward to seeing ‘David Tennant’s sixth toe’ appear as a tag on AO3. “I give it a day.”
A third said, “WHERE’S YOUR NUBBIN, DAVID? WE WANT PROOF!!!”
Others conjectured that Tennant was deceiving them.

One fan commented, “I have reviewed my files and found no sixth toe.” “Maybe David could provide some updated movies and tasteful stills to demonstrate this. “You understand science.”
A second added, “I guess he’s trolling the shit out of us. He knows how often he goes barefoot.”
Someone else said, “Is he bulls**ting us?” I’d adore it if he were. Is the ‘nubbin’ truly under the other toes?
“If so, he must have a close relationship with his podiatrist because that has got to throw the mechanics of your feet way off.”
What is polydactyly?

Let’s start with the basics: ‘Poly’ is Greek, meaning numerous, and ‘dactylos’ means finger or toe, which is how physicians came up with this word that sounds like a dinosaur.
Johns Hopkins Medicine reports that it is the most prevalent congenital limb difference.
Based on the location and size of the extra digit, three types of the syndrome exist: preaxial polydactyly, central polydactyly, and postaxial polydactyly.
Tennant, whose true name is David John McDonald, is referred to as a “nubbin,” implying that he suffers from the most prevalent form.
Postaxial polydactyly affects around one in every 3,000 babies, resulting in the birth of an additional tiny finger or toe.
The additional digit is often tiny and poorly shaped, so it won’t work like the other ten.
What’s the cause of polydactyly?
Although parents can pass on this illness to their children, polydactyly is completely unpredictable from birth.
According to Johns Hopkins Medicine experts, it can appear spontaneously in some children and affect family members.
It states, “A child inherits a changed gene (mutation) from a parent, resulting in one or more extra digits.” Race and biological sex may also have an impact.”
Babies with various health issues are more likely to have additional fingers or toes.
Polydactyly can ‘be solitary or be a part of a hereditary syndrome/sequence’, according to surgeon Jurga Pikturnaite, a specialist in plastic reconstructive, hand, and cosmetic surgery.
She explained, “Polydactyly can be inherited through the autosomal dominant pathway, which means that only one parent needs to pass on the gene for the condition to appear, or it can be caused by environmental factors and abnormalities during fetal development.”
“While polydactyly is uncommon, it is one of the most common congenital limb abnormalities that we see. It affects up to 1 in every 500–1,000 live births.
