Demi Moore makes devastating statement during speech after winning her first acting Oscar in her 45-year career…

Demi Moore made a difficult statement during her acceptance speech at the Golden Globes after winning Best Actress—Motion Picture Comedy or Musical for her performance in The Substance.

She began by telling the audience that she really wasn’t expecting it and that she’d been doing this for a long time, emphasizing that this was her first prize in over 45 years of performing.

While she has received various honors in her career, her most recent victory from a major awards organization was as part of an ensemble nomination for Margin Call at the Independent Spirit Awards.

This is her first solo prize from a major association, as well as her first Golden Globe nomination, following four nominations prior to The Substance in 1997.

During her victory speech, Moore told the audience that she once heard someone refer to her as a “popcorn actress” and took that to mean she wouldn’t win any Golden Globes in her career.

“30 years ago I had a producer tell me that I was a ‘popcorn actress,’ and at the time I made that mean this was something I wasn’t allowed to have,” Moore remarked as she held her Golden Globe.

“I could produce financially successful films, but I was unable to gain recognition, and I accepted and believed this.”

That eroded me over time, to the point where I wondered a few years ago whether this was it. Perhaps I had achieved everything I had set out to achieve.

“As I was at kind of a low point, I had this magical, bold, courageous, out-of-the-box, absolutely bonkers script come across my desk called The Substance, and the universe told me that you’re not done.”

She then expressed her gratitude to the film’s director, Coralie Fargeat, her co-star, Margaret Qualley, and ‘all of the individuals who stood by me’ and ‘believed in me when I hadn’t believed in myself.’

She stated, “In those moments when we don’t think we’re clever enough, pretty enough, slender enough, successful enough, or just not enough…

“I had a woman say to me, ‘Just know you will never be enough, but you can know the value of your worth if you just put down the measuring stick.’.”

Moore described her prize as ‘a benchmark’ in her career, enjoying ‘and being told that I do belong,’ as the crowd began to applaud her as she finished.

The BBC reports that Moore might need to deliver more acceptance speeches in the near future, as her success at the Golden Globes could potentially boost her chances at the Oscars.
