Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning discuss how they have managed to stay in touch for 20 years

Dakota Fanning and Denzel Washington have discussed their successful 20-year relationship.

Fanning and Washington have been friends for 20 years, and they first appeared on screen together in Tony Scott’s 2004 picture Man on Fire.

Fanning’s genuine breakthrough into the profession came with the nearly 20-year-old film, although Washington was already a seasoned veteran.

Washington, who was in his late 40s at the time, portrayed Creasy, while Fanning, then nine, played Pita Ramos.

Since then, the actors have kept in contact, with Washington witnessing Fanning’s meteoric climb to prominence.

The Equalizer 3, releasing on September 1, will feature them together on screen for the first time in over 20 years.

Ahead of the film’s release, the actors have been chatting with the press about their future endeavors and their beautiful reunion.

Regarding Fanning, Washington told Entertainment Tonight: “She knows how to hit the ball back over the net.” “Her potential is boundless.”

Of course, when the two previously collaborated on a project, Fanning was still a child. Therefore, it felt unusual for Washington to be interacting with an adult woman.

It felt strange, you know, because I was like, ‘Oh she’s a mature woman,'” he said.

“She was like a mature lady then, but today she’s an adult woman. Indeed, she possesses a remarkable talent. Because she was bringing it, it wasn’t so unusual.

Fanning also commented on the interview, stating that the two had remained in touch over the years since she was acquainted with one of his kids from their time at New York University.

She told the news outlet: “I’ve obviously, you know, known Denzel for a big part of my life, and one of his daughters is one of my closest friends, so I’m always in the loop.”

As for the reunion all these years later, Fanning summarized: “It’s been over 20 years, and I was fairly young [in Man on Fire], but that’s not an experience to forget.” The second time, I felt the same way my body did all those years ago: excitement, a little nervousness, and a desire to be as prepared as possible. He is undoubtedly an actor that keeps you on your toes all the time.”
