Flight attendant warns people not to drink hot water while flying for the following reason…

A flight attendant has advised against consuming hot beverages on an early morning journey, even though you might think it’s lovely to unwind with a coffee.

When you think about it, how often do you see flight attendants relaxing on an aircraft with a cup of tea?

Although they frequently serve us our drinks and are undoubtedly preoccupied with keeping us safe, there is another reason you hardly ever see them sipping hot beverages.
One flight attendant said they ‘will not drink hot water on the plane’ in an interview with Business Insider.

“[Flight attendants] will not drink plane coffee, and they will not drink plane tea,” they stated.
The FDA issued at least six warning letters to airlines in the 20 years prior to 2019, prompting the remark.

In 2019, DietDetective.com and the Hunter College NYC Food Policy Center at the City University of New York examined drinking water quality on 11 major and 12 regional airlines.

“The quality of drinking water varies by airline, and many airlines have possibly provided passengers with unhealthy water,” the researchers wrote in their report.

Former flight attendant Kat Kamalani reported in 2021 that the water storage tanks remained unclean.

“Rule number one: Never consume any liquid that is not in a can or a bottle. They never clean those water tanks, and they are disgusting,” she stated.

Furthermore, Kamalani asserts that people only clean tanks when they break.

As stated by Business Insider in a 2017 article, simply heating water for tea or coffee may not reach a high enough temperature to eliminate microorganisms. In response to concerns about contaminated water, America addressed the article, stating, “The safety of our passengers and crew remains the airlines’ primary focus, including the provision of clean drinking water.” Airlines usually provide bottled water to accommodate client preferences and guarantee the safety of the water supplied by the aircraft’s onboard water systems.”Airlines and the Environmental Protection Agency collaborate closely to guarantee the safety of water supplied from towns for onboard systems and to uphold that safety once obtained through strict criteria for sampling and management.”

The frequent movement of water prior to its storage on an aircraft increases the risk of contamination.
