Gwen Stefani believes that having a ‘third party’ engaged in her marriage to Blake Shelton is crucial to happiness

Gwen Stefani has said that a particular “third party” played an important role in making her marriage to Blake Shelton joyful.

Stefani and Shelton started dating in 2015 following their divorces, and they married in a ceremony in 2021. The duo met in 2014 on the reality TV show The Voice, when they both served as coaches in season seven.

An insider informed People at the time that Blake and Gwen had started dating. They’ve helped each other through a terrible time, and they’re really happy together.

“Everyone is thrilled because they’re both incredibly nice people.”

Ten years later, their relationship remains strong, and the ‘Hollaback Girl’ singer has now shared her advice. For the pair, the key appears to be a ‘third party’ in the person of God.

In a recent interview on The Drew Barrymore Show, someone asked her about the best advice she’s ever received about love. She said, “The best advice would probably be to make sure you have a third party” before gesturing to the sky.

Stefani has been outspoken about her beliefs for years, even endorsing the Catholic prayer app Hallow over the holidays.

During the conversation, she also discussed her personal life with her spouse.

“I have the dogs right here, and we have two couches… Blake’s on that couch, and we’re like, ‘Hi,” the singer added.

“I would sit next to him, but he’s gigantic, and we don’t fit anywhere.”

Stefani has three boys from a previous marriage, and Shelton appears to have taken on a significant role as stepfather.

Although he does not have any biological children, he stepped down as a The Voice coach in 2022 to focus on parental obligations.

He told People, “Even though I am a stepparent, I take that responsibility very seriously. The children see me as a really significant person in their lives.

“If I leave my work at this point, the only thing I risk is having regrets about losing out on more essential things in life. For now, those are our children. The present is no longer about me, and never will be again.”

During an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Stefani also answered some quick-fire questions, revealing that her favorite love song is not by her.

“Shania Twain’s ‘Still the One’ is a perfect song,” Stefani remarked.

The 55-year-old also stated that she is definitely a “date night in” type of gal, adding, “I’m literally like — couch, blanket, cookies, chips.”
