He survived war and worked as forklift truck driver. Later, he became world-famous actor and fell in love at 70…

He is one of Hollywood’s most popular action heroes. However, life has not been easy for him; he lost his wife of 16 years in a horrific accident and has had to raise his adolescent boys alone. At 70, he fell in love with a lady he couldn’t have.

This Irish actor has been in several blockbuster films. “Taken,” “Star Wars,” “Batman Begins,” “Schindler’s List,” and “Love Actually” feature some of his most memorable performances.

His portrayal in “Schindler’s List” garnered him an Oscar nomination, but the 71-year-old remains irrepressible; in 2022, he will release two action films, “Memory” and “Blacklight.”

Liam Neeson had a turbulent childhood before becoming a Hollywood celebrity. The actor was raised in a little Irish village during the war, and even though he is in his seventies, memories of those tragic days remain fresh.

Although he characterized his upbringing as normal, he experienced several difficult historical events. In an interview, the Irish actor talked about the 50th anniversary of “Bloody Sunday,” the conflict that claimed the lives of 13 of his countrymen. He remembered how gloomy things were:

“I remember the next day when everything was incredibly quiet and very, very sinister.”

Neeson started boxing at the age of nine and continued until he was seventeen. Although he has observed many sorts of violence and has been questioned if his love of boxing is related to the trauma, the actor stated that the sport comes with a lot of respect.

There was a strong admiration for the craft. Even though opponents would punch each other, he felt there was love there. Aside from fighting, he also enjoyed acting and went to extraordinary efforts to be on stage.

Growing up, he worked as a forklift truck driver, and after a long day of work, he would hitchhike to rehearsals for a play. He grew up watching hard work, particularly from his mother, who died at the age of 94 after 34 years as a “dinner lady” at a girls’ school.

Now, the actor has been in several films and Broadway shows, and while it appears that he is constantly working, some of these film sets have brought him his greatest love.

Neeson and Natasha Richardson had a relationship that only felt true in movies. The pair had 16 wonderful years together before a horrific catastrophe tore them apart. The friendship between the performers started when they appeared opposite each other in the Broadway play “Anna Christie” in 1993.

The “Taken” star claimed he had never had such a connection with a cast member before. Every day they played, there was an unsaid synergy that the audience could feel and perceive.

Critics and visitors praised the enchantment they produced on stage, earning the actors Tony nominations. At the time of this whirlwind romance, Richardson was still married to Robert Fox.

Fortunately for Neeson, their marriage was nearing an end. While Richardson was not pleased with how things turned out, she couldn’t deny how deeply she had fallen for Neeson. The actress described it as just another case of terrible timing.

At the time, Neeson was 40 and had a reputation for being a lady’s man, but 29-year-old Richardson didn’t mind; in fact, she was happy many women admired him because she knew why.

The actors previously worked together on “Schindler’s List,” and on Richardson’s 30th birthday, Neeson gave her a card with the message, “You are catching up with me. Lots of love, Oskar,” which was the name of his character in the movie.

The actress was unimpressed by his gesture and even perplexed about what it meant for them as a couple. So Richardson replied, “This is like a letter from a friend.”

What is our relationship?

Neeson didn’t have to question himself twice; it was immediately evident that he loved and cared about Richardson. He understood what they shared was important and needed to be preserved, so the pair married later that summer, in 1994.

Unfortunately, the singer had to deal with the sorrow of his wife’s untimely death in a skiing accident in 2009. The actress had a severe head injury, which resulted in brain death.

The actor recalls arriving at the hospital in Canada, when the doctor informed him that Richardson’s brain swelling was too severe for her to live.

His wife was on life support, but he informed her she had struck her head and would not be able to recover, then kissed her and said he loved her.

Neeson also revealed that he and Richardson had decided to remove the life support if one of them needed it. However, the actor waited a little before removing the plug, giving his wife’s relatives a chance to say their final goodbyes.

Neeson disclosed that three of her organs had also been donated. Her heart, liver, and kidney were able to save three more lives, something the 70-year-old thought Richardson would enjoy.

Five years after the tragedy, Neeson spoke with Anderson Cooper and confessed that it still didn’t feel true that his wife was gone. He had to be strong for his two boys, who were teenagers when their mother died.

After Richardson died, Neeson admitted to having a drinking problem but chose to quit. He said that going through three bottles of booze was nothing. He has, however, refrained from drinking strong liquor and beer for many years. He likes a mild Pinot Noir, which he consumes in moderation.

Neeson was asked whether he had a favorite Bible quote, and he mentioned one that he wrote on his wife’s gravestone: “Cast your bread upon the water, and it will be returned tenfold.”

While he confessed it was not a literal quotation, he cherished it since it was something his wife always said to him. He viewed the glass as half empty and she as half full, but the actor admitted that his viewpoint was shifting with time.

Following the early death of his wife, the topic of religion arose. Neeson stated he believed but did not practice, and while the notion of the afterlife is an important component of faith, he was not sure if he believed in it even after Richardson’s death.

While discussing tombstones, Neeson was asked what phrases he wanted to be known for and have etched on his gravestone. He couldn’t think of anything right away, but he remembered that on his weekly trips to Richardson, there was a Civil War veteran buried next to her, and his epitaph was “Grace and Grit,” which always piqued his interest.

Neeson and his wife raised their children in a New York farmhouse, and he had to keep the place running after she died. He admitted that when the door opened, he still hoped it was her coming in, but each day of the grief process has been unique.

At times, he experiences a sudden and intense pain in his chest.

In 2016, the actor shared a memory of his wife and included a comment that reflected on their time together. He left a message: “The hardest thing in the world is losing someone you love.” But the positive outcome of their 16-year marriage was that Richardson showed him how to love completely and allowed him to feel real bliss.

So he exhorted his supporters to cherish their wives while they were still living, because life may change in the blink of an eye. He explained, “Cherish each day and love as if it were your last, because one day it will be.”

The actor described how, regardless of the scenario, she would go to and from work, always carrying leftovers from home for them to eat. As a result, he learned that sometimes you have to do whatever it takes to live, even if it means remaining at a job you detest.

Neeson also claimed that his mother’s tenacity sprang from the necessity to provide for her family, as his father did not make much money.

Raising adolescent boys may be difficult, but Neeson was pleased with his sons’ good manners. He stated that he and Richardson always wanted their children to be respectable and have manners.

Although the potential of his boys getting into drugs concerned him continually, he trusted them to be careful. So when he hears others compliment them on their kindness and respect, he feels proud of himself and his wife.

A few years after losing his wife, the actor stated that he had not figured out the life of a single father since he approached it day by day. But anytime he witnessed his children discovering themselves and stretching their muscles, he wanted Richardson to be around to see their development.

Neeson’s sons are now grown; his eldest, Micheál Richardson, is 27 years old, and Daniel Neeson is 26. Micheál followed in his parent’s footsteps; he made his film debut in 2013’s Anchorman. He even acted alongside his father in the 2019 film “Cold Pursuit” and 2020’s

“Made in Italy.”

Daniel also studied acting and digital media at Tulane University. Still, after dabbling in a few production gigs and making a few films, he decided to start an eco-friendly clothing line in 2017.

About a year and a half after losing his wife, Neeson tried to get back into the dating scene. The actor was rumored to be dating businesswoman Freya St. Johnston.

The two were seen leaving the famous Nobu restaurant in London. Johnston is a tall blond woman who is said to resemble his ex-wife. They were photographed again holding hands as they made their way to the Dorchester Hotel.

Johnston looked stylish in a floral dress, and Neeson complemented her with his light brown jeans, a blazer, and a baseball cap. Neeson was reportedly introduced to Johnston through his industry friends. According to reports, he had been dropping by her apartment and sending her flowers.

The actor’s representative was allegedly asked about their dating rumors but chose not to comment. However, on another occasion, Neeson was spotted running out of work to meet with Johnston. He had a red clown nose in his hand, jokingly propped on her nose while they waited for their car. She found it amusing but removed it as soon as they drove off.

Neeson was also reported to have a romantic fling with actress Laura Brent. But before this, he was also reportedly spotted having dinner with air stewardess Leslie Slater, but their relationship did not last long.

Soon after, he made a public appearance with Brent, and the two looked cozy together as they attended the premiere of their movie, “The Chronicles of Narnia.” Neeson put his arms around her while they posed for the camera.

Neeson spent a few months in Melbourne, Australia, while filming “Blacklight.” He loved Melbourne and its filming crew; he thought every department had the friendliest and funniest people.

He also revealed an intriguing detail that had everyone putting on their investigative hats.

Neeson said Melbourne gave him a few good friends and love, despite Australia’s hard lockdown.

He did not give details about the mystery woman, but he admitted he fell in love, but nothing could come out of it since she was taken.

Neeson will not reveal the woman in question, so several media detectives have made some speculations. Some of the women in the mix include actress Yale Stone, who also starred in “Blacklight.”

However, others speculated that singer Tina Arena, who has been dating artist Vincent Mancini for the past 23 years. The sister of the famous Australian singer Kylie Minogue, Dannii was also one of the women in question.

Nonetheless, although Neeson keeps his love affairs private, his friends and family would love to make him happy again. In his movies and real life, he has proven to be a dedicated father; now, fans and family would like to see him have a life partner to share his life with.
