Celine Casey, mother to Vienna Brookshaw, has shared an extraordinary journey about her little girl. The duo, residing in the United Kingdom, embarked on their path in April 2021 with the birth of Brookshaw.
Upon doctors placing Brookshaw on Casey’s chest, concerns arose when Casey noticed a prominent birthmark between her daughter’s eyebrows. Worried about potential impacts on Brookshaw’s mental health as she grew older, Casey, though aware it posed no physical health risks, sought a solution.

Brookshaw was among the 20,000 babies born with congenital melanocytic nevus (CMN), a condition characterized by a cluster of benign pigment cells. Uncertain about how the birthmark might grow with time, Casey decided to pursue its removal, aiming to spare her daughter from potential challenges and the curiosity of other children.

Despite her best intentions, Casey faced hurdles in the form of financial constraints. Denied assistance by the NHS for the surgery, deemed non-essential for physical health, Casey resorted to crowdfunding. The initial goal was achieved swiftly, raising $52,000 within 24 hours. However, pandemic-induced hospital cost spikes required an additional $27,000.
Through a second GoFundMe campaign, the necessary funds were secured for Brookshaw’s surgery. The procedure successfully removed the birthmark, leaving only a small scar. Casey frequently updates on Shaw’s healing process on social media, where followers praise the adorable little girl.

Although the birthmark is gone, the family still visits London for assessments by Brookshaw’s surgeon to ensure the scar heals well. At the age of two, Shaw is now thriving and living like any typical toddler.
