Here’s how Chris Evans convinced Mackie and Sebastian Stan to take part in his last movie

Chris Evans said that convincing his fellow Marvel costars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan to appear in his upcoming action rom-com “Ghosted” was easy.

“Oh, that was so simple. “All it took was one text and they were on board,” Evans, who is promoting his collaboration with the dog food business Jinx, told Insider on Tuesday. “Those guys really showed up for me.”

Evans plays Cole Turner, a down-to-earth local farmer who falls in love with Sadie Rhodes (played by Ana de Armas) at an outdoor market in “Ghosted,” which made its Apple TV+ debut on Friday.

Sadie, who pretends to be a renowned art curator, ghosts him after a passionate and wonderful day-long encounter.

Rather than being discouraged, Cole flies from Washington, DC, to London to reconcile with her. His huge romantic gesture swiftly backfires when he discovers Sadie is a CIA operative, and he becomes reluctantly entangled in her perilous world of espionage.

Mackie and Stan, well known for their roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, respectively, make memorable and humorous appearances in the film as Evans’ character attempts to return home.

The Grandsons of Sam and God are two bounty hunters played by Mackie and Stan.

Their appearances also mark the first time the trio has appeared in a production together since the 2019 blockbuster movie “Avengers: Endgame.”

“That was great,” Evans remarked of his reunion with Mackie and Stan. “I’d like to work with those guys again.”

Is it possible that the actors will work together again in the future?

“Hopefully,” Evans said.

It’s been four years since fans last saw Evans in action as Steve Rogers/Captain America in “Endgame,” which appeared to mark the end of Evans’ stint.

Evans has stated repeatedly that he enjoyed his time as the heroic figure, but the part is just too exceptional for him to reprise anytime soon.

With Marvel presumably in the rearview mirror—for the time being, at least—the actor has been keeping busy with a variety of post-“Endgame” projects.

He and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will co-star in the forthcoming Amazon Studios action film “Red One,” which is set to hit theaters this holiday season.

And, 13 years after portraying an arrogant skater-turned-actor called Lucas Lee in Edgar Wright’s 2010 cult hit “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World,” Evans will reprise the role in an upcoming Netflix anime version.

Even with the extra obstacle of skating, Evans says he had a “good time” playing Lucas in the first film.

“I almost wish there was some kind of sequel,” he remarked.

“We had such a good time making that movie,” Evans said. “Everyone got along great. And the reality is, I believe if you asked the majority of that cast, ‘What movie did you have the most fun on?’ they would tell you. “I believe the majority of the cast would say that movie.”

Evans stated that the cast is part of an email thread “that never goes dormant,” so when the opportunity to collaborate arose, the performers were “all in.”

“You know what I mean? It was a no-brainer.” “When Edgar asked, ‘You guys in?’ there was an avalanche of yeses.”

Two of his “Scott Pilgrim” co-stars, Brie Larson and Aubrey Plaza, are also now part of the MCU.

Larson presently plays Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, while Plaza will appear in the upcoming “WandaVision” spin-off series “Agatha: Coven of Chaos.”

Evans was unaware of Plaza’s MCU involvement prior to this interview, but he seems unsurprised.

“They just keep expanding,” he observed. “Eventually, I don’t know what actor won’t have done something in the MCU, so that’s great.”

Evans praises his pet dog, Dodger, for keeping him grounded and making him feel loved throughout all of his professional pivots and new enterprises.

“You know what I mean?” He’s home.”  “He’s such a relief,” Evans added.

“If you’re in a joyful, happy mood, so is he,” Evans added. “If you’re feeling down and out, he’s there to console you.” He’ll be there to defend if there’s a knock at the door at midnight.”

Dodger has been a part of Evans’ life (and Instagram feed) since they met at a shelter while filming a scene for the 2017 drama film “Gifted.”

Despite the fact that the world knows Evans as an A-Lister and the current bearer of People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive title, Evans enjoys the fact that to Dodger, he’s just his owner.

“He’s just so straightforward. “He’s so pure,” stated the “Lightyear” actor. “He has no idea what I do for a living.” He knows nothing about me except that I’m a male. And that’s such a refreshing dynamic.”

The pair’s unshakable relationship led to a partnership with Jinx, a company Evans supported before becoming an ambassador for.

Jinx’s devotion to providing nutritious dog food free of additives and artificial substances, according to the actor, was critical for Dodger’s health.

Dodger has tried a variety of dog meals throughout the course of their eight years together, according to Evans, since he gets “bored.” Dodger fell in love with Jinx goods the moment he tried them.

Dodger’s tale was included in a Jinx commercial last autumn, and the couple is working with the company again.

Jinx is releasing “The Dog Dream Box,” a limited-edition collection that draws inspiration from Evans and Dodger, in honor of National Pet Month in May. The package will be available only at Walmart and will include Dodger-approved chow, snacks, and toys.
