The beautiful love story between Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick has us in awe. Here is what we know about them..

Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick are both celebrities in their own right, and it’s hard to believe they’ve been married for nearly

Kyra was just 12 years old when she met Kevin, who was 7 years her senior. She had gone to watch a film starring Bacon with her brother and then met him afterwards.

It was not until a decade later, on the set of Lemon Sky, that their paths met again. Kyra admitted that she didn’t like him at first.

“He was certainly not my type.” In fact, Kyra revealed to Wide Open Country, “I still recall gazing at his butt when he walked away after we first met and thinking, Well, I guess some girls like that.”

But she changed her mind, and the couple married the next year, in 1988.

The pair married in a secret ceremony in Connecticut, then celebrated with 300 friends at the Manhattan bar Au Bar. Kevin and Kyra, who married on Christmas Eve in 1987, only invited friends and family to their wedding celebration.

Travis Sedgwick Bacon, their first child, was born right after the wedding. Sosie Ruth, their second child, was born in 1992.

Sosie has followed in her parents’ footsteps by starring as Skye Miller in the Netflix adolescent drama “13 Reasons Why.” Travis works as a solo musician and composed the music for his parents’ film “Story of a Girl.”

The pair recently celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary and couldn’t be happier. In Hollywood, the Bacons’ decades-long marriage is considered a miracle.

“If someone had told me at 22 that I would meet the man I would marry and at 23 that I would marry him and have a child, I would have told them they were insane,” Kyra told Redbook in 2008.

Bacon evidently still loves his celebrity wife, and he constantly remembers to commemorate their wedding anniversary. In reality, Kevin and Kyra often post confessions of love on their own Instagram profiles.

Their relationship hasn’t always been easy.

“At the time I thought I was at rock bottom, I met my wife, our children were born, and good things were happening.” And I was able to continue supporting myself, which gave me strength,” Bacon told reporters.

The pair did concede that it hasn’t always been easy, recalling the time their life savings were stolen when Bernie Madoff pulled off the greatest Ponzi scam in history in 2008.

Some reports indicate Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick lost $100 million, while Celebrity Net Worth states they “only” lost $30–$40 million.

But they weathered the storm because they both had employment, and although they lost millions, they did not lose all.

“It was a bad day,” Bacon told The Guardian, adding, “but pretty quickly we were able to see all the things we had rather than what we lost, and those are the biggest cliches: children, health, love, a nice home.” As a result, we got through it together. I’m not thinking about Madoff at all.”

Cousins who are first cousins
Kyra realized that she and Bacon are ninth cousins once removed after an appearance on the American television program “Finding Your Roots.”

A DNA test indicated that the actor and actress were distant relatives, which gave Kevin a strange sensation, and he wasn’t happy about it.

“I knew it,” Kyra remarked, but it was “a little unsettling.” She did, however, add that she was OK with the discovery as long as they were not first cousins.

When PBS looked into Kevin’s family history, they learned that his 22nd great-grandfather was King Edward I, who battled William Wallace. Kevin joked that his genealogy was underappreciated, and he said that he and his wife were first cousins.

“I kind of felt like it was a joke at my expense, you know,” he said.
Despite the upsetting revelation, Kevin and Kyra have moved on, and their love has grown stronger with each passing year.

Quarantined love
They just got the opportunity to spend even more time together while quarantined at their LA home.

“I’m doing a little writing, even though I have no idea whether or not I’m any good at it,” Kyra told People.

“It’s really just a matter of finding something to do.” I don’t spend time with my spouse reading Shakespeare, but we do watch a lot of movies and read a lot. We are still reading. I’m still reading. I’m attempting to incorporate it into my work on a regular basis.”

Kyra also confesses that her husband always makes her feel special, no matter where they are.

“I don’t know how he does it, but he always makes me feel like I’m the most beautiful woman in the room—the only girl in the room,” Kyra said to People.

She also praises their great chemistry in bed.

“Sex is extremely important.” “That desire exists,” Sedgwick told Redbook in 2012.

In a 2015 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bacon offered this advice on how to remain married: “Whatever you do, don’t listen to celebrities’ advice on how to stay married.”

In 2012, Sedgwick told Good Housekeeping what she loved about her devoted husband.

“He is a man of integrity. He is so morally upright. He has strong moral standards, doesn’t lie or cheat, and I find it attractive!” she said. “I am constantly impressed by Kevin’s calmness and lack of ‘crazy.'”
