His parent was alcoholic, but that didn’t stop him from becoming famous country star…

Keith Urban is speaking up about how his wife, Nicole Kidman, helped him realize what is truly important in life.

In an interview on Wednesday, Urban, 54, discussed his fight with addiction, how his priorities have altered, and his family life.

Throughout his early career, the country singer went to rehab multiple times, the most recent being just months after marrying Kidman, 54, in 2006. Their marriage was a watershed moment for the artist, who replied to a party invitation during the interview, “I’d like to stay married.”

“I guess I used to do a thing where I’d work out the ramifications of whatever I did and then decide whether it was worth it—and most of the time I decided it was going to be despite the problems it would cause,” he told the newspaper.

“I’d go, ‘I know this is going to cause this issue, but it will be bloody fun,” he added. It’s true that nighttime me despises daylight. But the next morning, the nighttime me is gone—he’s completely unaccountable.”

But these days, Urban is preoccupied with his children, Sunday, 13, and Faith, 11.

“Today’s life is completely different.” I’m trying to set a good example for the kids, but I’m not sure if I’m doing it correctly,” said the “The Fighter” singer.
“I’ve made a lot of mistakes, but you have to figure out what works for you.” “My message to them is to do whatever they are passionate about, as long as they work hard to achieve it,” he added. “Nic and I both worked really hard. It was like paying my dues twice. I fought my way up through the clubs in Australia to earn a record contract, then relocated to the United States and had to start all over again.”

He said, “Luckily, things worked out a second time.”

Similarly, the “Cop Car” singer told The Times last month, “My dad was an alcoholic, so I grew up in an alcoholic house, and it took me a long time to believe I was wired the same.”

“I don’t talk about it much because I want my audience just to come and have a good time.” I have no objections to drugs or alcohol.
“Everyone does what they want to do to have a good time,” the “One Too Many” singer concluded. “I just discovered I’m allergic to it.” ‘You have an allergy?’ someone asked. ‘How does drinking affect you?’ And I told them, ‘I break out in cuffs.'”

Meanwhile, Kidman told E!’s Live on the Red Carpet in March that Urban flew to Los Angeles to accompany her to the 2022 Oscars, where she was nominated for her work in Being the Ricardos, on March 27—less than 24 hours after performing in Las Vegas.

“I’m absolutely overjoyed to be here. “I’m overjoyed to be here with my husband, who was in Vegas last night and flew in and landed at 1:00 a.m.,” the Oscar winner added. “Whatever it takes.”
