Hospital staff dress premature babies as superheroes. The reason is heartbreaking…

Volunteers and nurses at a premature baby hospital in Kansas City decided to make the babies’ first Halloween extra special!

They dressed the newborns in adorable costumes, letting parents choose outfits that matched their babies’ personalities.

The costumes were handmade felt and pint-sized, adding to the cuteness factor.

Many babies were dressed as superheroes, honoring their journey of fighting for their lives.

Photographer Helen Ransom of Faces volunteered her time to capture these precious moments.

She noted how seeing parents’ eyes light up during such a challenging time was heartwarming.

In addition to the costumes, parents received a “trick or treat, smell my feet” card with their newborns’ tiny footprints and a hand-crocheted pumpkin filled with treats.

This initiative brought a sense of normalcy and joy to families navigating through a difficult time.
