Your cheeks will become firmer, wrinkles will disappear, and your facial contours will look younger with simple and proven techniques. In this article, I’ll share a Korean method for reducing nasolabial folds and an effective cheek-lifting technique that’s easy to incorporate into daily life. Let’s outline 3 key steps for rejuvenation and start practicing.
Step 1: Nasolabial fold reduction
The nasolabial fold forms vertically, creating a visible line from the nose to the corners of the mouth. This is caused by the shortening of the muscle responsible for lifting the upper lip. Our first method will help relax this area.
Try to grasp the soft tissue around the fold, as shown in the instructions. The goal is to stretch the muscle layer and pinch it between your fingers. You can do this alternately on each side or both sides at once, if possible. Hold the tissue firmly and take deep breaths for about a minute. If you feel pain, wait until it turns into a warm sensation.
Why is this method effective?
Underneath the nasolabial folds are important blood vessels that nourish and detoxify the skin. Therefore, working on this area improves skin tone, texture, youthfulness, and reduces swelling in the lower part of the face.
Step 2: Cheek toning
This muscle is responsible for cheek elasticity, helps prevent biting while eating, and compresses air inward when contracted. A great exercise to strengthen this area is controlled cheek inflation:
Slightly pout your lips forward, using the fingers of one hand to hold them in place to prevent wrinkles. Inflate your cheeks halfway. Turn your head to the right and slightly upward at a diagonal, holding the position. Soon, you will feel the firmness in your cheek muscles. Exhale, switch hands, and repeat the exercise on the other side. Do several repetitions until you feel fatigue in your cheeks.
Step 3: Facial contour correction
A spasm near the nose affects the formation of folds, but tension in the muscles responsible for chewing can drastically change your appearance, as it impacts the positioning of facial bones.
It has been observed that in aging portraits, the jawline often appears blurred and raised, leading to sagging tissues. When working on the chewing muscles, which are under daily strain, it’s essential to give them attention every day.
