My neighbor threw away an orchid, but I took it and returned a healthy plant to her after two months

Sometimes it happens that a seemingly healthy orchid, due to improper care or the impact of diseases and pests, loses its root system and most of its leaves. Even in such a situation, we can revive the plant and give it a fresh start. The process of restoring an orchid that has lost its roots is simple and relatively quick. In just a month, without the use of additional fertilizers or specific products, it is possible to grow a new healthy root system even from a single living leaf.

Preparation for revival

First steps: Cut off a healthy leaf from the orchid and clean the stem, removing all rotten parts.

Rinse the leaf under running water and gently dry it with a soft towel.

Creating the nutritional solution:

Preparing the nutrient solution involves two stages:

1. Pour 500 ml of warm water over rice and let it infuse.
2. Separately, pour 500 ml of boiling water over the peel from one onion, cover it with a lid, and let it cool.
3. Strain the onion peel infusion and mix it with the rice water.

Treat the cleaned orchid leaf with the prepared nutrient solution using a cotton pad.

Place this setup in a larger container, then place the orchid leaf on top of the cotton pad. Pour water into the container so that it slightly touches the cotton pad, ensuring that the plant receives the necessary moisture.

Regularly, every four days, spray the leaf with water from a spray bottle and monitor the water level.

In less than a month, a new root system will begin to form, and in 40–45 days, the orchid with its new roots will be ready to be transplanted to a permanent location for further development and growth.
