In Philadelphia, 80-year-old Biden falls up steps and lurches to podium

Joe Biden recently gave a speech in Philadelphia, which was not ideal optically for the current President due to an uncomfortable slip as he attempted to up the steps to the stage, as well as an eyebrow-raising statement he made regarding al-Qaeda.

The stumble is one of many unpleasant physical moments for the president, who is 80 years old and quickly aging and has been renowned during his term for his age and, according to many conservatives, physical infirmities.

The old president faltered as he began to mount the little set of steps up to the stage, then lurched forward as it appeared he might lose his equilibrium altogether. Unlike a terrible spill he experienced earlier this year at the Air Force Academy graduating drill, Biden regained his footing and made it to the stage, where he theatrically clutched with both hands.

Biden then compared Hamas, the Palestinian terror organization, to al-Qaeda, stating, “These guys make Al Qaeda look pure.” They are completely nasty. Make no mistake; as I stated from the start, the United States supports Israel.”
It’s odd why the current President would compare al-Qaeda, which murdered hundreds of Americans and went on to kill many more in Iraq and Afghanistan, to Hamas, which, while nasty, has killed considerably fewer Americans.

In any case, Biden also discussed his efforts to deal with the hostage problem, since many Americans who were in Israel when Hamas began its onslaught remain missing. He went on to say, “This morning I spoke with the family members of all those Americans who are still unaccounted for on a Zoom call for about an hour and 10–15 minutes.”

“They’re in agony, not knowing what the status of their sons, daughters, husbands, wives, and children is,” he continued. It’s gut-wrenching, you know. I told them of my personal commitment to do everything imaginable—anything imaginable—to reunite lost Americans with their families.”

“We’re working around the clock to secure the release of Americans held by Hamas, in close collaboration with Israel and our regional partners,” he added. And we’re not going to stop until they’re safely returned.”

The White House initially stated that Biden’s speech would focus on his “Bidenomics” agenda, saying, “The president will discuss how his Bidenomics agenda is creating good-paying union jobs, investing in infrastructure, accelerating the transition to a clean energy future, and combating the climate crisis.”

“During the last day, the IDF forces carried out local raids in the territory of the Gaza Strip to complete the effort to cleanse the area of terrorists and weapons,” the Israeli military claimed in a recent tweet. An effort was also made to find missing persons throughout these activities.”

According to the report, “Infantry and armored forces searched and gathered in the area for findings that may help in the effort to locate the missing and thwarted terrorist infrastructure and terrorist cells found in the area, among which a cell of the terrorist organization Hamas fired anti-tank fire at Israeli territory.”
