Julian Lennon, John Lennon’s son, swore he would never sing “Imagine,” his father’s famous peace song. He said he would only play it if the world ended, but the artist thought everyone should hear his dad’s words.
But because of the war in Ukraine, the 59-year-old felt forced to sing the song in public as part of a fundraiser for 2022 Global Citizen’s Stand Up for Ukraine.
Even though Julian’s version was simple, it was just as powerful as his dad’s 1971 version.

Julian stated that he felt compelled to “respond in the most significant way I could” due to the “unimaginable tragedy” in Ukraine.
“The song embodies our collective hope for a brighter future,” he stated. The ongoing murderous violence has forced millions of innocent families to flee their homes in search of safety elsewhere.
Since the fighting began at the end of February, about 4.5 million people have fled Ukraine.

According to Deadline, more than $10 billion was offered to support Ukrainian migrants at the Global Citizen event for which Julian played.
Half of the presents came from governments, corporations, and individuals throughout the world. The remaining half comes from grants and loans from public European financial organizations.
Julian, the son of John Lennon and his first wife, Cynthia Lennon, urged everyone to aid individuals all across the world who are seeking a better life, not only those escaping Ukraine.
“Imagine” leaders and everyone else who agrees with its message should stand up for refugees everywhere!” Please speak up and offer from your heart.
Just wonderful. I’m at a loss for words to convey Julian’s narrative and his urge to assist those who have escaped the conflict in Ukraine.
