Actor Keanu Reeves has possibly one of the greatest reputations in Hollywood. The actor is renowned for primarily staying to himself but also making sure that everyone around him is taken care of.

Perhaps most notably, it is recognized how well he takes care of the actors and staff engaged in any of his productions. But this time, actress Kate Beckinsale has recounted how many years ago Reeves saved her from something really unpleasant!

Kate Beckinsale and Keanu Reeves go way back. In fact, the actress recently recounted an anecdote that reveals exactly how far back the connection between the two stars extends.

Beckinsale returned to the Cannes Film Festival this year, as she was in attendance at the AmfAR charity gala, among other events. Her appearance at one of the largest red carpet events in the world must have reminded her of her very first time walking the exact same carpet.

Her first appearance at Cannes was in 1993. She was attending the premiere of Kenneth Branagh’s Shakespeare production, “Much Ado About Nothing.” Following this year’s festivities, Beckinsale uncovered a picture of herself from her very first Cannes appearance and revealed a story not many people know.

On the 1993 Cannes red carpet, her co-star Keanu Reeves spared her some huge embarrassment. The actress revealed the full story on Instagram. She writes, “I had bought the bodysuit in the Sock Shop at the airport, and when I got in the car to drive to the premiere with Denzel and Pauletta Washington, all the poppers in the crotch popped themselves openly, and it flipped up like a roller blind. I didn’t believe it was right to go diving around in my undercarriage with all of us in the rear of the car, so I simply silently panicked.”

“I walked out onto the biggest red carpet of my life and whispered to Keanu and Robert Sean Leonard what had happened. In this image, I am holding the front gusset down while the two of them are supporting the back gusset. Absolute legends who may not even have completely understood the mechanics of what was occurring or even heard the phrase ‘gusset’ before, but both went in to save me, no questions asked,” she added about the heroic act.

Showing what a gentleman Reeves has always been. In the photo, Reeves is flashing his typical boyish grin as he discreetly helps his co-star escape embarrassment.

The actor is extremely successful in his professional life. His newest sequel for his John Wick trilogy, “John Wick: Chapter 4,” has made approximately $430 million globally, making it the franchise’s highest-grossing picture to date. The John Wick series has now reached the billion-dollar barrier in box office profits!

And as usual, Reeves makes sure the cast and crew of his movies are always honored for their labor. He acknowledged the four-man stunt squad that worked with him on the film by sending them each a customized Rolex Submariner watch. He also produced of them bespoke shirts that displayed the number of times each man was killed by his role in the film.

In his personal life, the actor is in a romantic relationship with his girlfriend, Alexandra Grant.

The pair is arguably best known for how secretive they keep the specifics of their lives and relationships. However, Reeves just came down for an interview with PEOPLE and spoke about the satisfaction he feels with his artist girlfriend.

When questioned about the last time he felt bliss, the John Wick star replied, “A couple of days ago with my honey. We were in bed. We were linked. We were happy, laughing, and giggling. Feeling wonderful. It was simply incredibly lovely to be together.”
