Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have been making news for the wrong reasons lately after seeming to engage in an altercation on the red carpet of Mother.

Speculation has been rife since Wednesday’s event in Los Angeles, with paparazzi on hand to snap the high-profile duo in the throes of some type of quarrel. Now, we’ll waste no time in saying that the subject has likely been blown way out of proportion in most media outlets, but all the same, a lip reader has now chimed in to show exactly what was being said.

According to the lip reader, who talked with FEMAIL, Affleck and Lopez weren’t so much having any type of fallout as they were arguing postures and positioning for their time in front of cameras.

The lip reader added that during the interaction, which went viral as soon as photographs found their way to the internet, J-Lo asked her boyfriend whether her low-cut blouse was “showing too much”.

Affleck reassured her that it was alright and then leaned towards Lopez’s ear to whisper, “Don’t worry, babe.”

Lopez immediately replied, “Come close to me.”

When their images were taken, Dogma actor Affleck told Lopez, “That’s us, done,” before bending in to give her a kiss and asking if she was OK.

The couple’s red carpet exchange received extra notice as it happened only one day after a videotape of Affleck “slamming” a vehicle door in Lopez’s face found its way to TikTok.

Labeled “miserable” online, the film fuelled allegations that the A-list pair were in conflict with one another. Said speculations were understandably only reinforced by what transpired at the Mother premiere a day later.

Fans may remember another incident that saw Affleck and Lopez hit the media in February, when the latter appeared to encourage the former to act like he was enjoying himself at the Grammy Awards.

‘ “Look more friendly,” J-Lo apparently suggested. “Look motivated.”

To which Affleck replied, “I might.”

Affleck later rejected the impression that he was less than impressed at the event, stating that he’d enjoyed himself.
