Keanu Reeves is an actor with one of the greatest reputations in Hollywood. The actor is noted for staying to himself most of the time while ensuring that everyone around him is taken care of.
Perhaps most notably, it is commonly known that he takes excellent care of the actors and staff engaged in any of his productions. But this time, actress Kate Beckinsale told how many years ago Reeves rescued her from a humiliating situation!
Kate Beckinsale and Keanu Reeves have a long history together. In fact, the actress recently recounted an instance that demonstrates how far the two actors’ bond goes back.
This year, Beckinsale returned to the Cannes Film Festival to attend the AmfAR charity gala, among other activities. Her appearance at one of the world’s largest red carpet events must have reminded her of her first time walking the same carpet.
Her first appearance at Cannes was in 1993. She had come to see Kenneth Branagh’s Shakespeare adaptation, “Much Ado About Nothing.” Following this year’s festivities, Beckinsale discovered a photograph of herself from her very first Cannes appearance and told a tale that few people are aware of.
On the red carpet at Cannes in 1993, her co-star Keanu Reeves rescued her from tremendous humiliation. The actress shared the entire story on Instagram. “I bought the bodysuit at the airport’s Sock Shop, and when I got in the car to drive to the premiere with Denzel and Pauletta Washington, all the poppers in the crotch popped themselves open, and it flipped up like a roller blind,” she wrote. I didn’t think it was acceptable to go digging about in my undercarriage with all of us in the rear of the vehicle, so I simply worried silently.”
“I walked out onto the biggest red carpet of my life and whispered what had happened to Keanu and Robert Sean Leonard.” In this photo, I’m holding the front gusset, and they’re holding the rear gusset. “Absolute legends who may not have fully understood the physics of what was going on or even heard the word ‘gusset’ before, but both jumped in to save me with no questions asked,” she said of the brave gesture.
Typical of the gentleman Reeves has always been. In the photo, Reeves is flashing his trademark boyish smile as he discreetly assists his co-star in avoiding humiliation.
In his professional life, the actor is very successful. “John Wick: Chapter 4,” the fourth episode in his John Wick trilogy, has grossed approximately $430 million globally, making it the franchise’s highest-grossing picture to date. The John Wick series has now earned a billion dollars at the box office!
And, as is customary with Reeves, the cast and crew of his films are always honored for their efforts. He gave everyone in the four-man stunt squad that worked with him on the film a unique Rolex Submariner watch. He also designed everyone bespoke shirts that displayed the number of times each man’s role was murdered in the film.
In his personal life, the actor is engaged to his girlfriend, Alexandra Grant.
The pair is arguably best known for keeping the facts of their lives and relationship confidential. Reeves, on the other hand, recently went down for an interview with PEOPLE and talked about his pleasure with his artist partner.
When asked when he last felt blissful, the John Wick actor said, “A couple of days ago with my honey.” We were both asleep. We were linked. We were chuckling, laughing, and smiling. I’m in a good mood. It was just wonderful to be together.”
