Katie Gaudreau is preserving the memory of her late brothers Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau “forever.”
On Saturday, Sept. 7, Katie shared on Instagram Stories that she had engraved their initials on the side of her wedding band as a tribute to her two brothers, who died in a bike accident on Aug. 29, just one day before her wedding.
In a black and white shot, she showed off a close-up of her new wedding band, which read “J & M.” We spotted her holding the ring with the new inscription between her fingers and bringing it up to the camera.
“You’re forever with me now. “J&M,” she captioned the shot.

Katie and her fiancé Devin Joyce postponed their wedding after hearing about their deaths. She said her brothers loved her fiancé “more than he will ever know,” while reposting a tribute message from him on Instagram.
“They were excited for us to be married. “When the time comes, they will be dancing and celebrating more than anyone,” she said in an Instagram Stories message on September 3.
She also paid respect to the unbreakable “bond” between Johnny, a Columbus Blue Jackets hockey player, their brother Matthew, and the rest of their family in a second Instagram post, which included images of the family over the years.

“To know these two means to love them,” she wrote. “There are no words to describe the closeness my family enjoyed. The entire world understands that there would never have been a John or a Matty without the other. They were the greatest older brothers a small girl could have hoped for.”
“This will never be a goodbye post because I will never stop saying your names and honoring you both,” she told me. “I’ll take the best care of Mom, Dad, Kristen, Mer, and Madeline, your babies.”
According to New Jersey State Police, a suspected drunk driver killed Matthew and Johnny at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, when they were attempting to pass another car. They were biking in their hometown, about to act as groomsmen for Katie’s wedding, when the tragedy occurred.
Police have identified the driver as Sean M. Higgins, 43. He was detained and charged with two counts of death by automobile. He’s presently being kept in jail.
