Kelli Giddish will allegedly reprise her role as Detective Amanda Rollins in the Law & Order: SVU season 25 premiere.
Mariska Hargitay, who has played Olivia Benson on the program since its inception in 1999, appeared to confirm Giddish’s comeback after TVLine revealed the news on Tuesday.
Hargitay, 59, captioned an Instagram video of the couple dancing to Paul Russell’s song “Lil Boo Thang,” “Back with my lil boo thang.” Both were costumed to look like their personas.

“This is everything to me,” NBC, the network that airs the long-running scripted crime drama, said.
Giddish, 43, left the show in the middle of season 24 in December. She did, however, make a surprise appearance in the season finale as part of a crossover between Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU. Rollins was pregnant and expecting her first child with Assistant District Attorney Dominick Carisi (Peter Scanavino) in the episode.

In real life, the actress was also expecting.
In late May, a spokeswoman for Giddish revealed to people that she was expecting her third child, her first with husband Beau Richards. In June, their son, Oldie Richards, was born.
People reported in August 2022 that she would be departing Law & Order: SVU.
“Being able to play Rollins has been one of the greatest joys and privileges of my life.” I’ve had the privilege of being a member of the Law & Order family for the past 12 years. Rollins is unlike any other character on television. She has matured and evolved, as have I. “I started on this show when I was in my late twenties, and I’m grateful I got to spend so many of my adult years with Rollins in my life,” she remarked after more than a decade as a main character on the beloved show.
Giddish spoke exclusively to people about her painful goodbye after her final episode aired.

“It’s funny because, after last night’s performance, it feels more final now.” “I didn’t expect to feel this way today,” she told people. “It’s over now, and everyone has seen it. Everyone has had the opportunity to see it and feel all of the emotions that I did when filming the last scene with Mariska.”
Rollins and Benson enjoyed a tender hug following her wedding to Carisi in her farewell episode as a prominent cast member. Giddish stated that the staged departure between the real-life pals made her cry.
When asked if the tears she shed on video were genuine, Giddish said, “Of course they were.” Without a doubt.”
