Kendall Jenner has earned her reputation as the queen of the pantsless ‘fit after debuting her no-pants look late last year, donning the racy style on countless occasions and in different campaigns. Jenner stepped out in the look she established at the 2023 Met Gala, proving she’s firmly in her no-pants period.
The model showed that she was serious about the subject of “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” by donning a onesie with elements of the late designer’s unique style. Lagerfeld had a legendary uniform up to his death: a black suit highlighted with the pointed collar of a white button-down, which he always finished off with black sunglasses and gloves. Jenner, a longstanding Lagerfeld muse who has walked Chanel runways and starred in a campaign for his namesake label, inspired the night’s honoree with her crystal-encrusted collar and fully sequined Marc Jacobs bodysuit. Her long cape sleeves, which expanded into exaggerated trains that flowed gracefully behind her, were a nod to Lagerfeld’s hallmark tailoring.
Jenner paired her booty-baring tribute with a Jacobs signature: the uber-tall, lace-up Kiki boot, which was also sequin-encrusted. (Previously, the reality personality wore the boots in a Marc Jacobs ad.) She wore her hair in a ’60s-inspired ponytail and pink lips that complemented her camellia flower earrings (another Lagerfeld nod).

Jenner has been attending the Met Gala since 2014, but this is by far her most considered look. It’s the ideal combination of her own style, the honoree, and the designer she decided to wear. Kendall, you did an excellent job.
