Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala gown with 50,000 pearls stunned everybody

Kim Kardashian wowed Met Gala attendees on Monday evening, arriving in a strapless gown covered with pearls at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual fundraising event.

The shapewear mogul went out in a custom-made Schiaparelli gown with strings of pearls and a nude corset.

The mother-of-four accessorized her high-fashion attire with a voluminous cloak.

Her ‘Met moment’ comes only days after she attended the Time 100 gala in an ivory satin John Galliano slip dress, accessorized with crystal necklaces and a pearlescent Chanel clutch bag made by the late Karl Lagerfeld for the SS12 runway season. The remark gave followers an indication of what they should anticipate from the cosmetics mogul at the Met Gala, considering that the theme this year requested participants to dress “in honor of Karl.”

Kardashian has also given hints about her Met Gala costume in the past week, most recently posting photographs on Instagram of herself in Lagerfeld’s Paris studio, where she was ‘getting a little inspiration for the Met’ while lying on a bed with the late designer’s cat Choupette.

The reality star’s Met Gala 2023 appearance comes a year after the businesswoman startled fashion fans across the world by arriving at the event with bleached blonde hair (which took 14 hours to color) and controversially slipping into a sparkling gold dress formerly worn by Marilyn Monroe for the actor’s performance of ‘Happy Birthday’ to President John F. Kennedy on his 45th birthday in 1961.

The garment in question, which Kardashian acknowledged modifying her food and exercise habits to fit into, was designed by Bob Mackie for Hollywood costume designer Jean Louis and had over 6,000 crystals. It still holds the record for the most expensive garment sold at auction (a cool $4.8 million in 2016), and it was lent to Kardashian last year by Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum.

Kardashian and her family have dominated the Met Gala stairs in a variety of historical and handmade ensembles throughout the years.

While expecting her first child, North, the mother-of-four wore a figure-hugging floral-pattern gown by Riccardo Tisci for her first Met Gala appearance in 2013.

In the years that followed, Lanvin, Roberto Cavalli, Balmain, Vivienne Westwood, Versace, Mugler, and the now-famous Balenciaga all-black ensemble appeared.
