And, thanks to viral TikTok hacks like the hypnotic four-dot eye trick and even Alix Earle’s daily makeup regimen, the eye-opening color is an absolute must-have for more than one reason (along with more natural peachy tones and even buzzy pastels, of course).
Lady Gaga, too, has shown a penchant for a white waterline on many occasions, experimenting with both Old Hollywood, Marilyn Monroe-inspired glam looks, and more mod, 1960s cosmetic moments. And her most recent Instagram selfie series proves that her favorite white eyeliner isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
With the beautiful text “hi for no reason, just hi,” the Hold My Hand singer is posed in a low-key ponytail with her long, golden blonde locks. Her lips are a warm terracotta pink with a satin sheen, and her eyes are doll-like and huge, with a black wing (that’s accentuated by some fluttering eyelashes), face-framing arched brows, and, of course, a brightened waterline.

Do you like Lady Gaga’s white waterline but find it fades quickly over the day? Elizabeth Seropian, a celebrity makeup artist who has worked with Cindy Crawford and Noah Cyrus, previously gave Bustle some pro pointers.
“Setting the white liner with a similar-colored eyeshadow or translucent powder can help to lock it in place,” she says, adding that “waterproof or long-wearing formulas designed specifically for the waterline can also improve its staying power. ” The end result? White eyeliner has “a brightening effect on the eyes, making them appear larger and more awake.”
