TikToker Paul took to the video sharing platform on Wednesday (May 8) to recount his unpleasant experience at a Seattle-based restaurant.
Upon entering the eatery with his guide dog Mr. Maple, Paul was approached by a staff member who informed him of the restaurant’s ‘no pets allowed’ policy, stating that only service dogs were permitted.
Despite Paul explaining that Mr. Maple was indeed a service dog, the staff member questioned whether he was an ’emotional support dog’.

“I showed [the guide dog harness] to the guy and said I’m blind,” Paul explained. “He responded, ‘you don’t look blind’.”
Paul clarified that many individuals in the blind community still retain some functional vision.
The staff member then questioned why Paul was looking directly at him if he’s blind, to which Paul explained his limited peripheral vision.
Further expressing skepticism over Paul’s disability, the staff member threatened to call the police if Paul returned to the restaurant.

“I’m speechless,” concluded Paul in the viral video, which has been viewed 9.4 million times.
While Paul did not disclose the restaurant’s name despite many requests, he later met with the establishment’s manager to address the incident.

Paul emphasized that he had no intention of pressing charges against the employee or seeking their termination, and received a sincere apology from them.
The restaurant also offered Paul a gift card as a gesture of goodwill.
TikTok users have since commended Paul for his handling of the situation, praising his gracious response and advocacy for individuals with disabilities.
