Meg Ryan’s style is ageless.
On March 2, the actress attended the 2025 Oscars, and despite her limited red carpet appearances, she produced a traditional but sensual outfit.
Her outfit included a strapless red-wine velvet gown that revealed a glimpse of flesh due to its strapless design. Meanwhile, her towering platform shoes were visible through her dress’s daring thigh-high cut.
Ryan kept her makeup bright with reddened cheeks and a glossy berry lip, and she wore her distinctive crimped haircut.
The dark, rich hue of Ryan’s attire and glam may have hinted at a more sensuous atmosphere, but all we could think of was “Meg Ryan Fall,” the autumnal aesthetic trend inspired by the star’s classic rom-coms like When Harry Met Sally, You’ve Got Mail, and Sleepless In Seattle.
Last year, Ryan attended the Vanity Fair Oscar party in a silver floral peplum gown. The pink dress was adorned with silver and gold flower accents. Ryan completed the ensemble with Briony Raymond jewelry and gently wavy hair.
Despite the fact that she hasn’t attended many red carpet events in recent years, she continues to turn heads. Is she an example of this? The rom-com royalty actress attended the 2024 Met Gala for the first time in 20 years. Ryan showed she’s still that girl in a translucent Michael Kors gown. The black mermaid-style gown had a glittering floral motif.
The theme for this year’s Met Gala was “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion,” and the You’ve Got Mail actress delivered with her classic outfit adorned with modest diamond accents and her distinctive blonde wavy lob haircut.
Kors, 65. Her participation at the annual event also served as a promotion for her latest romantic comedy, What Happens Later, which she co-wrote and directed.
According to a synopsis of the film from production firm Bleecker Street, the plot revolves around two ex-lovers who unexpectedly reunite for the first time in decades when a snowstorm traps Willa (Ryan) and Bill (David Duchovny) at an airport overnight.
Ryan just shared an Instagram image teasing another project she is working on with Billy Crystal, her co-star from When Harry Met Sally. The shot was a blatant reference to their 1989 film, with Crystal, 76, wearing a sweater similar to Harry’s iconic one in the film and the set mimicking the one used for the interviews in the romantic comedy. Ryan’s shirt and jacket also resemble Sally’s movie appearances.
“It’s finally happening—we’re reunited for something historic. “I can’t wait to show you all soon 💙,” Ryan said in the post. Crystal included the photo and description in his debut Instagram post. Fans went wild in the comments after seeing them together, with many speculating what the surprise was.
Rob Reiner directed the original film, which was scripted by the late Nora Ephron. The late Carrie Fisher portrayed Sally’s best friend Marie, while the late Bruno Kirby played Harry’s best buddy Jess. Crystal and Ryan garnered Golden Globe nods for the film, and Ephron’s script was nominated for an Academy Award.
