Penélope Cruz looked as lovely as always at the 2025 Oscars.
The 50-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean actress returned to the star-studded awards presentation in a lovely white silk chiffon Chanel gown inspired by a Spring/Summer 1992 design.
Cruz, who has been an ambassador for the French fashion brand since 2018, stunned in the ensemble, which had a ruched bodice embellished with dazzling jewel buttons and a transparent floor-hitting cape linked to the dress’ straps. According to the company, the following design took 254 hours to complete.
The gown was coupled with a range of stunning Chanel high jewelry, including diamond “Soleil” earrings and a corresponding ring containing a round-cut diamond valued over 5 carats. She also wore the “Comète Aubazine” diamond ring and the “Soleil 19 Aout” brooch, which had a 22.10-carat yellow diamond.
Cruz is one of several speakers at Hollywood’s biggest night, along with Halle Berry, Bowen Yang, and Scarlett Johansson.
Cruz has been a prominent presence at the Academy Awards since 2000, when she made her debut in a stunning azure blue Chanel couture piece from Spring 1995. Cruz attended WSJ Magazine’s 14th Annual Innovator Awards at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City in October, with her Bandidas co-star Salma Hayek.

During Vogue’s official red carpet live stream, the celebrity revealed to La La Anthony that the garment was a combination of three separate Chanel couture designs from the 1940s, 1950s, and 2020 collections. “It’s like reawakening for us, like Sleeping Beauty—the different versions of this dress,” Cruz remarked, referring to the “Garden of Time” dress code.
