Maurice Joseph Micklewhite, who would later become Sir Michael Caine, was born on March 14, 1933. He is an English actor who gained notoriety for his role in “Alfie,” for which he was nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award in 1966.

He then had a successful career that lasted eight decades and starred in 160 movies. He appeared in a number of blockbuster films with his brother, Stanley Micklewhite, including “Play Dirty,” “Billion Dollar Brain,” and “The Italian Job.”

Micklewhite’s passing in 2013 deeply affected Caine. Even his brother’s funeral was off-limits to him since the family wanted it to be private and was aware that the media would attend if Caine showed up.

Caine was forced to grieve alone and in silence, since he couldn’t express his condolences publicly. Both performers were “very close,” according to Micklewhite’s widow, which is why Caine took the death particularly hard.

Unbeknownst to Caine, his mother had fed his half-brother from their refrigerator every Monday for fifty years. The actor recalled his mother visiting a “cousin” at Cane Hill Mental Hospital when the news broke, but it was really only a cover for her to see her eldest son.

The actor wondered how it had been kept a secret for so long. He figured someone would have heard that he had a younger brother who was a patient in a psychiatric hospital.

The editors informed him that his mother had a nurse vow secrecy on a Bible. Burchell recognized Caine because he had a picture of him.

Reporters learned Burchell was Caine’s half-brother via his brother’s girlfriend. The reporter chose to follow the story since she was quite receptive.

Caine didn’t spend any time getting to know his younger brother, who had epilepsy. Unfortunately, before Burchell passed away, he only had 18 months to get to know him.

Caine, 90, has given his family everything he has. With his wife, Shakira, and their two children, he is now retired and living a comfortable life.

Caine went out on a date with his wife in May 2023. The elderly actor was using a rollator when they went out for the evening.

Since 2018, Caine has been reliant on a rollator. His dependency on the walker resulted from a rare accident on the ice that impairs the movement of his ankles.
