Seeing someone carry a parachute into a plane is not the most comforting image. And imagine if anybody on board was already afraid of flying.
I get the whole ‘Better to be safe than sorry’ thing, but this aircraft passenger appears to have taken caution to a whole new level:
Kagan Brooks, also known as @kaganbrooks on TikTok, came to the site last week to upload a video of her husband boarding the aircraft.
The footage shows him from behind, carrying what looks to be a rucksack but is actually his ‘parachute,’ according to Brooks.
Brook’s husband is shown lugging the camouflage-patterned rucksack aboard the plane, smirking at the camera, and continuing on his flight without being questioned by any of the airline’s workers because of what he’s taking onboard. He then strolls down the aisle and stuffs it into an overhead locker.
“Not my husband bringing his parachute on Spirit Airlines just in case,” the caption reads. […] I couldn’t stop smiling the whole time. #spiritairlines #traveltiktok #skydiver #spirit #traveltok.”
Excessive language is present:
@kaganbrooks I was laughing out loud the entire time 😂 #spiritairlines #traveltiktok #skydiver #spirit #traveltok ♬ Surround Sound – JID
It didn’t take long for the video to go viral, with the post being seen over a million times and others flocking to it to comment on TikToker’s husband’s decision.
“Smart,” one TikToker said. Last I heard, Spirit charged an additional cost for a standard conventional landing.”
“Spirit Airlines… checks in.” “Wisdom,” a second person added.
“Probably the smartest idea I’ve ever seen,” wrote a third. This might alleviate some of my aviation phobia.”
“Why don’t they provide parachutes just in case?” said a fourth.
Another person, however, stated, “Lol, yall, he’s just transporting it; you can’t jump out of a commercial jet like that.”
In a subsequent article, Brooks disclosed the true reason her husband brought the parachute on the plane.

Brooks answers the latter comment, adding that he’s ‘just transferring it,’ in the video, by stating they’re one of the ‘few’ TikTokers that realized her original post was a joke.
“My husband was bringing his rig to Miami so he could go skydiving there, and I thought people understood humor,” she recalls. However, the comments section indicates differently.”
Spirit Airlines and Kagan Brooks have been asked for comment by UNILAD.
