Ellen celebrates the accomplishments of Black women in numerous fields, like Serena Williams and Kerry Washington, and demonstrates to her daughters how such outstanding women make significant professional advancements.
“I feel really fortunate that they are growing up in a time [in which] the first president my daughter knows is Barack Obama,” she’s previously said. “That’s an incredible gift.”
In a more recent interview, Ellen spoke about her daughter’s experience seeing her on “Grey’s Anatomy.” Stella told her mother in sixth grade that everyone in her class had seen the show except for her. They started watching the show together, but Ellen finally decided she couldn’t watch it anymore.
