Phil Collins, Genesis’ famous frontman, has announced his retirement from live concerts owing to continuing health concerns. Collins, 74, said that he had been “very sick,” blaming his condition on significant nerve damage and drop foot caused by a 2007 neck injury. These diseases have substantially affected his ability to drum and play, prompting his choice to leave the stage.
Genesis’ “The Last Domino?” tour came to a close with his last show in March 2022 at London’s O2 Arena. Due to physical restrictions, Collins played while sitting, with his son Nic Collins filling in on drums. Despite the difficulties, the concert was a moving farewell to fans and a monument to Collins’ lasting impact in the music business.
Since then, Collins has claimed a lack of ambition to make new songs, claiming that his sickness has left him without the will to enter his studio. While he cherishes his musical history, Collins is prioritizing his health and adjusting to life outside of the spotlight.
