Post Office scandal victims received an emotional reaction on Britain’s Got Talent with their 40-person choir

The ensemble, comprised exclusively of individuals directly touched by the Horizon Post Office scam, captivated both judges and spectators with their emotional performance. In sharp contrast to last week’s contentious acts, this week featured a performance that had both the audience and supporters at home “in tears.”

Choir leader Tim informed the judges that they created the choir amid “terrible times” to bring pleasure back into their lives. Jess Kaur, a choir member, characterized them as “a massive family” who came together to show the world that “we’re all going to get through this fight.”

The judges unanimously approved the group’s advancement to the next round. Bruno Tonioli applauded them for exhibiting “the power of music to unite and remain positive.” “You will receive what you deserve.” “I sincerely hope you win this battle because it was disgusting how you were all treated. I mean, seriously, disgusting,” according to Simon Cowell.

“You’re going to win because the public supports you,” he said after the performance.

Over 700 subpostmasters were wrongfully imprisoned as a result of the Horizon incident, which included defective Fujitsu software that inaccurately displayed deficiencies in their accounts. The Horizon incident sentenced 236 postmasters and postmistresses to jail, leading to bankruptcy and at least four suicides.
Only in 2021 did the Court of Appeals reverse scores of unjust convictions.

After the performance, fans rushed to social media to share their reactions to the show, with many feeling emotional during the stunning version of “Hear Our Voice.”

The performance on ITV profoundly affected Cowell and many others at home.
“The Post Office Choir has got me in tears #BGT #PostOfficeChoir,” a spectator said on X.

Another concurred, writing, “The post office choir, though! I’m not crying; you’re sobbing! #BGT”

“Hands down, the post office people should win BGT at the end,” a third declared.
One person stated, “That post office choir song should be on the charts next week.” The affair is a national shame. “I hope they receive the justice they deserve.”

However, the choir’s impact wasn’t universal. “The post office scam was horrible, but isn’t there a choir now for every cause?” One individual expressed dissatisfaction, stating that it was merely another emotional tale and not a particularly effective performance. Another person criticized the show, saying, “It wouldn’t be #BGT if we didn’t have a ‘topical injustice choir’ in each series.”
