Pregnant woman had strong bond with stray cat, but what happened next would blow your mind…

When you’re having a kid, it’s always wonderful to have a pregnant companion to share the experience with—even if they aren’t humans.

Two years ago, a pregnant woman took in a pregnant cat, and the two moms-to-be formed a relationship, finally birthing simultaneously!

Lauren Maners adores animals and frequently volunteers to foster shelter pets needing attention. However, when she became pregnant last year, she chose to take a vacation from caring for dogs and instead focus on her newborn.

But fate had different intentions. Lauren and her husband Kainan were months into their pregnancy when they saw a stray kitten they couldn’t resist.

They discovered the stray, a white female cat named Dove, on the side of the road, “extremely skinny and injured,” Lauren told Bored Panda.

Doves had apparently been feeding from dumpsters. The expectant mother learned the cat was also pregnant. Lauren, unable to locate Dove’s owner or obtain a spot in a no-kill shelter, decided she couldn’t turn down a fellow pregnant mother and brought her in.

“I couldn’t just leave her knowing that she was going to have to take care of her babies in the wild,” Lauren told me.

“I knew that she was in bad shape and also felt a sort of connection to her due to us both being very pregnant,” she told The Dodo. “I managed to catch her by luring her up to me with our leftover food and wrapping her in my jacket, and we brought her to the vet.”

Lauren agreed to foster Dove and her future litter of kittens, and the former stray immediately settled in.

“She would follow me around everywhere I went, and she loved sitting outside with me in the mornings in our fenced-in area and letting me rub her belly while we ate breakfast together,” Lauren laughed.

Lauren was given a charming companion with whom she could develop a genuine motherly bond. The two new pals were going through the same thing, and Lauren joked on social media that they had created an exclusive “Pregnant Girls Club.”

“I and Dove had an instant bond,” she tells Bored Panda. “It was as if she already knew I was pregnant and that I was a friend. She wasn’t as trusting of my spouse as she was of me.

Weeks passed, and both pregnant women were prepared to give birth—and it turned out their due dates were extremely near.

Finally, the day arrived, and Lauren gave birth to a stunning baby girl called Kylie.

When she returned from the hospital, she discovered even more wonderful news—and an amazing coincidence: Dove had also given birth!

While she doesn’t know precisely when Dove had her six kittens, she believes the cat’s birth coincided with hers: “They were very possibly born at the same time,” she told The Dodo.

Lauren continued to maintain the cat family while caring for her infant, and she and Dove remained close throughout their parenting experience. She even claims that Baby Kylie began to bond with the kittens.

After many months of fostering, it was time to find homes for all of the cats. Lauren helped find excellent homes for all the kittens and informed The Dodo that her friend had taken in Dove, allowing them to maintain contact.

While caring for this pregnant cat during her pregnancy was a wonderful experience, Lauren stressed that it is not something you should strive to replicate: it is critical to spay and neuter your cats in order to help reduce the stray cat population.

What a cute story. Thank you, Lauren, for taking such wonderful care of these animals and watching out for a fellow mom. It demonstrates the actual, unexpected ties between humans and animals.
