Princess Beatrice welcomed her baby, and her name has everyone buzzing

Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, are now officially parents of two. On January 22, 2024, they had their second child.

The baby was born preterm and weighed just 4 pounds and 5 ounces, but the baby and her mother are “healthy and doing well,” according to Buckingham Palace.

“What a beautiful name…”
It’s apparent that the royal baby’s arrival has given joy not just to her family but also to royal enthusiasts worldwide. On January 29th, the joyful parents announced the news to their admirers, and social media exploded with congratulations and appreciation.

While the delivery occurred a few weeks earlier than expected (her due date was slated for early spring), Princess Beatrice and Edoardo are overjoyed with their new baby.

“We welcomed baby Athena into our life last week. “She is tiny and absolutely perfect,” Edoardo said on Instagram, expressing his and Beatrice’s tremendous love for their baby.

“What a lovely name.” “Congratulations!” exclaimed one responder, while another remarked, “I adore Athena’s name. So glad they’re all healthy!”

Not just for its beauty, the name Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi has captured the world’s attention. There is a deeper, historical importance to it that has everyone talking.

In Greek mythology, Athena is the goddess of knowledge, war, and practical reasoning. Aside from its mythical roots, the name has a personal tie to the British royal family’s history. Athena, born to Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, is more than simply a lovely name; it refers to the House of Windsor’s Greek origin.

Here is the royal twist: Prince Philip, Beatrice’s grandpa, was born in Corfu in 1921 to the Greek royal family. He was the son of Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark and Princess Alice of Battenberg. As a result, naming their daughter Athena honors her Greek heritage.

But that’s not all: baby Athena’s birth has propelled her up the royal line of succession. She is now 11th in line to the throne, pushing her aunt Princess Eugenie down to 12th.

Athena has already graced royal circles. Lady Kitty Spencer, the late Princess Diana’s niece, called her daughter Athena in 2024, preserving the name in the family.

Response from the public
The public response has been extraordinarily favorable, with followers going to social media to shower Athena and her parents with affection. One fan said, “Oh, welcome to the world, darling little tot. Congratulations to everyone, xxx,” while another exclaimed, “Awwww! I’m really pleased for them.” She is stunning!!!!”

Even people close to the family couldn’t help but admire Beatrice’s maternal qualities.” She is highly loving and active in both children’s lives. Gabriella Peacock, Beatrice’s close friend, remarked, “It’s wonderful to see my best friend transitioning into this next stage of her life.”

Three children.
This is Beatrice and Edoardo’s second child together, following daughter Sienna’s birth in 2021. But Athena has a huge brother, too.

Edoardo’s kid from his previous relationship, Wolfie, is already “besotted” with his younger sister, as Edoardo phrased it.

Edoardo has been a dedicated father to Wolfie since 2016, and Princess Beatrice, the 9th in line to the throne, has been an excellent stepmother. Friends and people close to the couple have praised their parenting abilities. “Bea has such a good heart, and she’s such a kind person, so motherhood came very naturally to her,” a friend of hers explained. “She’s a fantastic mom.”

It is apparent that Princess Beatrice and Edoardo are creating a strong, loving family, and Athena is the ideal complement to their lives. Their emotions are “overflowing with love,” as Edoardo described it, and they are loving every moment with their lovely daughter.

Athena is a name with rich history, beauty, and regal importance. Despite only being a month old, this little one is already creating waves! We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this beautiful princess.
