I recently spotted a black-and-white photo of a beautiful young woman standing close to Tom Cruise. Her 1980s-inspired look immediately drew my attention to her eyes. I originally thought it was Heather Locklear, but I soon realized it wasn’t her. Rather, I instantly realized she was Rebecca De Mornay.
Rebecca De Mornay was born in 1959 in Santa Rosa, California. Many have described her upbringing as strange, even chaotic. Her parents were Julie George, an aspiring actress, and Wally George, a radio DJ who later became a right-wing TV personality. Rebecca’s parents separated when she was just two years old. Tragically, the scientist her mother wedded died when Rebecca was just five years old.
Following Rebecca’s grief, her mother decided to join her and her brother on a European trip. After traveling about in a Volkswagen van, they eventually landed in a little Austrian town where Rebecca began school.
